Just completed a long weekend of golf in Chicago. We played George Dunn on Friday, 36 at prarie landing on Saturday, and 18 at Balmoral Woods on Sunday. It was a Ryder Cup style gathering of 24 guys. It was a great time, and team Ohio brought home the trophy! THEWOOD and I went 3-0 in our matches. Anyone ever play alternate shot before? It is a lot harder than it looks because you can't get into a rythm. I went 8 holes without having to hit a putt at one point. Here is a picture of our trophy...

Hole #2 at my parents country club. Par 3 155 yards downhill. Hit an 8iron, ended up putting it left over the water in the rough but a chip and a putt for par. Played in an outing on Saturday morning with my dad for fathers day. Shot 86, not bad for the first time out this year. Had a stretch of four holes birdie, par, birdie, par, the rest not good. Ended up losing $2.50 in skins for the day.

I played at Tartan East (now just called East) on Saturday. If you get your ball off the fairway, you will have a hard time finding it. I was hitting everything left, and I had to take 4 lost balls. The greens out there are bentgrass, and they are very pure. Unfortunately, they are slower than my living room carpet.

to add; this may be the best value in central ohio. private club layout, (rough around the edges due to budget constraints), nice greens, and good fairways for under 45 bucks.

Tough course. About as tight as the Players Club in Grove City.
IMO the old Dornoch is a similar value as well.

I highly recommend the Spielman Scramble as far as outings go.

I played there two years ago and had a great time.

This year and last year it just wasn't doable.

I did hear that this years hole in one prize on the par three was a Ferrari. Not bad.

It's not cheap (about 150.00) but you get golf at a good course. (This year it was Little Turtle) nice swag, and a pretty good steak dinner at the end.

Plus you get to meet Spiels and other OSU figures, and the warm fuzzy of knowing your $$ is going to fight breast cancer.

Played 36

Played 36 yesterday up at our families summer house in Northern TSUN. After 1:00 $28 all you can play with a cart. As much as I may hate this state, golf up here is beautiful, challenging and priced right. Specially considering that it's still light up here close to 10:00 PM.

Shot an 88 on the first 18... Was 1-over through five on my second round... finished +7 at the turn and quit keeping score. I was having the round of my life up until something just fell apart in my swing and I started pulling it off the tee.

Oh well... four more days of all I can play. Can't be too pissed since it's really only my second time out for real this year.

The little man below also had a pretty good round... What I would do to have his flexibility... Just a HUGE swing he has!
