Check out the Robert Trent Jones Trail in Alabama. There are some great courses and they are priced pretty reasonably. There is a pair of them together by Florence, AL that are along the Tennessee River that are really nice. I don't know about the casino aspect in that area

many times. great course. respect a design that moved almost no earth. hate dye's railroad ties, though.

also respect the "no women allowed" policy. :biggrin:

edit: interesting nugget is that wexner, whose mansion is across the street, applied for membership and was denied. you'll be hard-pressed to find a club more selective and exclusive than the golf club.

My old man used to be a member there and when I was a kid I could only play at certain times...weekdays at 3 and weekends after 2 or something like that. Still the finest course in Ohio, IMO.

My old man was fortunate enough to have Fred Taylor ask him if he would host Tammie Green out there one time. When she got out of her car and was getting her stuff out of the trunk of her car, she asked where the women's locker room was. My old man told her, "You're in it."

Duh. How I missed the earlier posts is beyond me. But they were right.

I caddied out there a for a summer and it sure gives you a look at a different lifestyle. Guys drinking champaign after rounds, no shorts, no yardage markers, etc. I love the coarse set up, gives you a nice blend of styles.

The RTJ trail is a great group of courses, especially Capitol Hill and Ross Bridge. We did those a couple of years ago. You can't beat the all you can golf for three days = $135 deal. The only problem is there isn't a damn thing to do other than golf. We were hoping to find a place in close proximity to a casino, because apparently gambling on the golf course just isn't enough. I have heard good things about Biloxi. Anyone golf there recently?

If you really need to be near casinos, I recommend the Mesquite, Nevada and St. George, Utah area. Fly in and out of Las Vegas, which usually has bargain-basement airfares.

Of course, aside from gambling and staring at the desert there's fuck-all to do.

Anyone interested in getting a group together for a round of golf during the weekend of the Spring game? Either Friday evening or Saturday morning? 30 handicappers, 20 handicappers, scratch, doesn't really matter.
