So I am heading to Pinehurst next month.

We are playing Tobacco Road, Legacy, Southern Pines, and Island Hills. Anyone ever played these, have any great restaurants/bars to hit while there, etc...

I hear great things about all of the courses. The last 3 are included in a package, plus condo, plus breakfast for like 350. sick.

Anybody know of cheap courses in the Fort Myers, Fla area? I wanna think about playing when I'm down there in two weeks

If it is anything like over here on the east coast, good luck on finding cheap greens fees anywhere. It is considered "season" right now and all courses up their fees by 50% or more.

I would say that $50 is the average rate (at least for this side of the state) for 18.

It is almost golf season! Looking at this next weeks forecast, I believe I will be able to get my first round of golf in for the year. Couple of goals for me this year, first is to get my index to 2.0. I finished the year at 4.6, getting as low as 4.2 last year. I think with some strong practice sessions which focus on short game I can do it. My second goal is to get 70 rounds completed. I was right around 55-60 last year. One thing I am really looking forward to this year is getting to play Whistling Straits and BlackWolf Run (http://www.americanclubresort.com/golf/golf_index.html). My 5 year anniversary at my current employer was last September, to celebrate they are sending the wife and I to the American Club for 3 nights in April.

Has anyone hit the new RocketBallz from TM yet? I have hit it in the bay at golfsmith, felt good--I just like to see true flight outdoors.

One of the guys that played in my group today had two RBZ Tour hybrids, 16.5* and 18.5*. He hit it really well all day. I didn't get a chance to swing it, though. He loves them. I was thinking about getting a 16.5*.

I'm actually heading to Golfsmith today to buy the RBZ driver and get it custom fitted. I've hit them multiple times and absolutely love them. Getting a new driver was between the RBZ and Titilest 910 d2, but the RBZ is $100 cheaper and feels just as good to me.

I bet he was killing them. I bagged the R11 TP #3 Hybrid last year and absolutely bombed that thing. I didnt even need to carry a 3 wood. Everyone says the RBZ is even deeper, so I can only imagine.

I am trying to hold out, thinking a bunch of people are going out and buying the RBZ stuff now. Come spring they will lose flavor and I will start seeing some slightly used ones for a discount.

He is kind of a short hitter. Very consistent and has a great looking swing, but he doesn't hit it far. He probably averages 225 off the tee. I am not long by any means, but I usually hit it by him on the fly. With that being said, he takes me to the wood shed nearly every round. :tongue2: He was hitting the 16.5* RBZ around 200. It was actually going about the same distance as his 3 wood, maybe even a little farther. I want to take my driver, a Callaway FTiz, and compare it to the RBZ on a launch monitor.

I know that you probably already know this, but if you decide to buy online, be very careful. There are a LOT of counterfeit golf clubs out there and Taylormade is the most prominently replicated club. I have given up on ebay, but have had luck purchasing at golfwrx.com. If you buy one, let me know how you hit it.

Have some gift cards to spend here at some point and instead of getting shirts, balls, etc. I was thinking about getting a new 3 wood. Most of the time I can get away with not having to use it during a round (I'm a fairly long player off the tee most of the time) but it would be nice to have

tee'd it up today, shot 75. That's with a "breakfast ball" on 1 since our range is still shut down.

I made some clutch putts to save par a few times. only hit 10/18 greens, got up and down pretty well, which is usually the weakest part of my game.

I didnt hit the tee ball all that great, a little snappy, however I kept it out of trouble.

Very happy with the 75, hopefully its a sign of things to come.

Any suggestions around $1000 or less?

Yeah, GET FITTED!

DO NOT just buy off of the rack, have a professional watch you swing and let them recommend a set. A buddy of mine who is a 6 handicapper just got fitted and was recommended Ping G-15's and for $600 got a set of irons, including a sand wedge and also got a gap wedge.

+1

I had the wife fitted a couple of years ago for a gift. Getting fitted is a very good move. You may be very surprised by the results.

Played my first full 18 yesterday. Our greens haven't been mowed yet, so it was a free for all on putts inside of 10 feet. Just aim at the back of the hole and bang it. I can't really complain about how I hit it. After a quick alignment check on the 4th hole, I was hitting it pretty well.

This weather is amazing. Any rounds in March are bonus rounds, and from the looks of it, we will get a lot of bonus rounds this month.

Was able to play Wednesday, Saturday and today this week. It has been in the 80s and awesome.

They rolled and mowed our greens Friday. Mowing the tees/fairways this week.

This spring has been incredible. Like fourteenandoh said, its all bonus. Even bonus money for the clubs, which is good.
