THE GAME, tOSU at tCun, Sat. 11/25, 12pm ET, FOX

For those who want Day fired as a play caller only, you realize that's literally the only thing he does.... he was never the CEO of a little league team let alone any D 1 college team before being handed the keys by king Nepotism himself Urbz. He was a play caller.
this board should recognize that JJ is a real talent. He made plays when needed. He gave the coaching staff the confidence to thro a pass on 4th and three that essentially assured that theBucks would not have the time to drive using runnin and passing. Credit also Corum who allowed michigan to grid out time.

What? He coached here. He coached at MSU. He coached in Cleveland.

Where things started this year - is not where things ended up going. No one predicted the turmoil up north, and I really thought the cheating made a difference so I was expecting a different outcome today. I really didn't think Day was going to roll into Ann Arbor and turtle up and play not to lose.

This one hurts man. I don't like attacking players but coaches getting M's should be fair game provided there is reasoning and not just crazed ramblings. It's a discussion board and I constantly read others opinions and take stock of my own/adjust my thinking. BP brought me back to positivity this season and I am grateful and mindful, but this shit today was fucked!

Yes. I blame those assholes at CERN Everytime they fire up the particle collider memories from my childhood change and OSU makes retarded play calls.

You think this is the guy to string together 3 or 4 BIG wins in a row to win it all?

We went from Paul Brown to Bruce to Coop to Tressel to Urban and now to Day.... So the next guy is guaranteed to be Rich Rod? What? Why wouldn't we find someone who is hall of fame worthy at The Ohio State? Why is guaranteed to be bad? Yes, it *can* go bad but it hasn't in a long time....

Smh. We are failing at all of our program goals the last several years. Let's keep status quo because we don't lose to Iowa!
The cheating did make a difference lol. It was a closely fought game. The past couple seasons it was clearly one sided.

I do agree with this.. he is a gamer. He may not be CJ Stroud but the kid shows out when the lights are on.

Coaches don’t just wake up in their 6th and win championships,.

The difficult decision is hiring a competent, experienced DC instead of your friend in the first place. You shouldn’t get extra credit for undoing a decision that was not that great to begin with.

That thinking is why we have two slots currently occupied by Parker Fleming and Urban’s son-in-law.

I think expecting perfection out of all hires is a pretty unrealistic viewpoint - are we really going to use Day's DC hire in 2020 still against him? He showed the ability to right his wrongs with the Knowles pick and then some. All coaches make hiring mistakes, hell Saban still does that routinely. I am fine with showing Parker the door, and expect that to be what happens, but let's not act like this doesn't happen at every other spot not called Utah.

Some of us reject that you either win 2 of your first 4 Games or get shitcanned.

Fair enough

What about 5 years?

EDIT

Oh wait, you meant give a guy 5 years of The Game before you know what you've got?

When he goes what, 1-3?

Ok. Hate to see what you guys need to see before you call an ambulance for a dying man

So, say Day says fuck it and goes to the NFL. What then? haven't seen a name mentioned I'd call a homerun. Some up and coming coach that will be driven out of town before his recruits even mature? Among several reoccuring themes here: careful what you wish for.

I can appreciate a bias for the known over the unknown, there is a false dichotomy here on this topic. I didn't know who Tressel was or who Herman or Day were, or who Hafley or Dantonio were. But I know what Day is as the CEO of the program. Our goals are not to beat Indiana and Rutgers.

I'm getting neg'd but that just tells me you didn't see Moore's presser.. listen to him talk about being aggressive is for the kids, he is paid to be aggressive & how being conservative in games like this cheats them working their ass off all year for this game.

You don't want that?

Not being serious that I want THAT guy, but, something that sounds and coaches like him. I'd take a General like Tressel or a Swamp King like Urban, but give me someone who wants to make the grass grow with blood against scUM.

This is nuts to pin it on one player.

It's definitely Day. You know, the guy whose in charge of hiring the coaches and targeting the players we recruit and coming up with/hiring the guys who come up with the game plan.

Yes. It's very sad to see. And I actually agree with them - they do WANT it more.

Barton mentioned how the Cleveland boys and the Santino Holmes would have cleaned up that mess with Tress. I believe that too. Those were some dawgs. We are pussy right now.

So you think we have no talent that the next 2 to 3 years are no chance to win it all? Or am I misreading that? I don't agree with this world view.

You had me until the last line. That's a bridge too far.

You think Day is the guy to string together 3 or 4 wins in a row to win a playoff series? scUM and The Game no longer matter the way they did, the TV Networks have made sure of it and this was the last version of The Game as we know it. We could have righted every wrong by just playing to our own abilities and strengths. BITTERLY DISAPPOINTED. I know the hardcore's will cringe but this is the truth, case in point: next year, we would have a rematch with them. Great job Ryan Day. Buck stops with him.. you can blame Knowles (who hired him?) you can blame McCord (a kid, who is coached by who at his position and plays are coordinated by who?) you can blame Stallions (a schizotard who will burn the program down he loved so much) but the buck stops at Ryan Day.

It does seem to be different when you're not born into it. I don't know why, but, the coaches even talk about having to teach the national recruits about The Game. If Days QB is saying "just another game" my guess is he hasnt been told by Day that it's more than just a game here in Ohio. Unfortunately thanks to Day sucking in these big games I do have to question if he "gets it". I wanted to believe.

So long Woody, goodbye Woody
I knew who Tressel was. I knew that Dantonio was Nick Saban's DC at Sparty. I knew that Day played and coached for Chip Kelley
You know what will happen?

Well shit, folks we have a legit crystalball owner.

Besides knowing the fate of OSU football should we trade in one coach for another....give a brother some winning lottery numbers?
Yeah. I DO know what will happen. 11 (maybe 12 wins) is Ryan Day's ceiling. He hits it every year. What happened to Nebraska when they fired their coach who hit his ceiling every year?

This isn't Nebraska. Crystal ball should have have told you that.

It sounds crazy but I’d promote Hartline to HC and give him an insane amount of $$$ to hire elite staff around him. Essentially the Dabo Swinney move, but Hartline isn’t a complete jackass.
