I can't help it if you can't grasp context, and neither can you obviously. My apologies for reading your words and not your mind. Had you said this the first time I would've agreed.

Shit I’m not. I would love to see Jim out there against them.I’ve reached the bargaining stage of grief. Maybe we can suspend Coach Day for next year’s Michigan game and bring in Tressel or Meyer as an interim honorary coach. I’m mostly joking…
We DIDN'T beat UGA last year because Day did the exact same thing at the end of the game as he did at the end of the first half yesterday: drive the ball easily to the 35 yard line, then burn the rest of the clock and attempt at 50+ yard field goal with a kicker who had never made a 50+ yard field goal, let alone in a pressure situation. So we beat Georgia last year and then TCU to win the natty, you’d be worried about last yrs Michigan win? Honestly, would would you even care about this yrs loss if we won a natty…I only care that we lose to Michigan because it was, and is as today, the impediment to our larger goals. Next year that's not the case. It’s for sentimental value mostly unless we lose 2x.
You think the Chiefs care that the Eagles beat them last week if they win another SB? I think not.
If we lose to them in The Game, it pretty much guarantees that if we meet them in the CFP before the final four, it will be in their house. So we beat Georgia last year and then TCU to win the natty, you’d be worried about last yrs Michigan win? I thought it was odd. We didn't run in plays and use a wrist band. But Our O worked fine in the 2nd half. And you can't run in plays on D. But I definitely would have used wrist bandsSo, does anyone know for sure if we changed our signals? Sure as hell looked like they knew exactly what we were running a lot out there.
Last year was the outlier. Losing The Game in ANY of the previous years means you don't get to play for the championshipAgain, I appreciate that perspective and as an OOS kid with midwestern roots, I know how much the “game” means to people from Ohio. But trying to separate “real” fans from fake is a slippery slope. No one is going to agree on that criteria. I will say this might be a generational/OOS thing tho. For the younger generations and people not living in the rivarly day in and out, this just isn’t the “grand finale” for us. We grew up beating Michigan consistently for almost two decades (pretty much took it for granted really) and have a bunch of gold pants and conference titles. But we only won the big one twice with over a decade between them. All through the 00s and 10s, we were the toast of the Midwest but never thought of as a true contender as the SEC teams were king and showed it on the field more times than not when we played them. Honestly (and not cuz I was on campus at the time), getting curb stomped by FL and LSU in consecutive yrs at the BCS championship, last years Georgia loss, and the 2019 game with Clemson hurt more than these past two Michigan losses for me.
They couldn't run effectively the rest of the game because they ran Trey straight up the middle. Our running game was hit or miss again yesterday. Outside of that drive (which was good), we could not run effectively. O-line also was a problem too…QB and Oline have been our biggest weaknesses all year and it showed up again.
Idk if you're drunk or high, but outside of 2001 (first year) and 2004 (14 guys drafted) Tressel never lost to a bad team.Totally agree. I don’t think it has to be one or the other either as a great coach should do both. All I’m saying is that he consistently wins against anyone who’s not Michigan and while that game is important for sentimental reasons, it’s not the end all be all for our ultimate goals moving forward (that’s if you value National Championships).
There is only one great coach in college football and a few good ones. We have one of the good ones. Will he be great? Idk, but I’m just not willing to trade him in for an unknown commodity just yet. I agree he needs to start beating his top 5 opponents, chiefly Michigan, but if he only loses to top competition in close games, I’ll take it. I’ve seen Tressel and Urban beat Michigan so many times only to lose to a team with a losing record during the season or get blown out by a non-conference opponent in the bowl game. The feels just as bad to me.
