I guess my only question(s) are; other than hope, what makes you feel that way? It's been 5 years now.
I don't have the numbers but how many guys do more after year 5 than before that? (I know there have been a few)
Personally, as I have been very clear about, I don't buy it. Consider me Dennis Green. He is who I think he is and that is an elite OC.
We need better.
I mean you’ll probably just chaulk this up as ‘hope’ but:
2019: Two very questionable calls overturned by the booth and we were still a miscommunicated route away from playing for a NC. Embarrass #13 Mich along the way.
2020: Play for NC and lose to a stacked Bama. Michigan ducks us.
2021: Finesse team. Get beat up in Game. Win Rose Bowl. Something that I believe we were crediting Tress and Urban for I beleive.
2022: Day makes changes on D and offensively. Don’t have Trey. Were up at half. Agressive plays bite us in ass. Despite that, we take UGA to brink in midst of 30 game win streak and maybe three consecutive NCs. Probably win if Marv doesn’t go out. Probably win NC if that happens.
2023: Start season #3. Live up to that expectation? Not that we will end ranked #3 but took #2 to brink at thier house.
I absolutely realize that at this point, the majority of ‘could go either way’ games and plays have not gone Day’s way. And I definitely realize that once there is a pattern of said close calls, maybe the invovled individual just doesn’t have it.
I just don’t think that based on the success in all other areas, we have a large enough sample size to judge. I mean the man is averaging 1.4 losses per season. Every non national champion is guaranteed at least 1. The coaches we are stacking him up against won at a less than once every 5 years pace.
