THE GAME, tOSU at tCun, Sat. 11/25, 12pm ET, FOX

If you can't beat TCUN, you're not gonna make deep runs in the CFP. "Almost" beating UGA didn't mean a damn thing. They LOST.

And Day CLEARLY didn't learn his lesson from that horse abortion of a final series to lose to UGA, BECAUSE HE DID THE SAME GOT DAMN THING at the end of the first half today.

Drive all the way down the field to the 35, then pack it in and attempt a 50+ FG when your kicker has NEVER MADE A 50 YARD KICK!

It's insanity.

Edit: we just need to win when it matters? NOTHING matters more than beating those blue bastards. Nothing.
He played conservative at the end of the first half cuz our QB is not that good lol. Look, day is not perfect by any means

i agree with you as CFB is currently structured, but starting next year we only need to beat them once….in the playoffs…if we face them. Like I get it , losing sucks, especially to them, but it’s no longer the end all be all. Even this year, IF Florida pulls this out against FLST and/or Washington loses next week, we are right back in it (admittedly not good chances, but look at last year). All I’m saying is besting TSUN at the end of the year is not the “season” anymore no matter how we slice it. It might be symbolically, but it literally isn’t. We want to beat them for sure, but realistically we just need to be in the top 12, then anything can happen with the talent with have on hand from year to year

The reason I'm not optimistic is that Day is pulling in a gazillion 5-star WRs but practically no one else. OSU needs to improve in the trenches and I'm not seeing it.

Some of the problem is Day feeling he needs to play those 5 star WRs when his QB can't take advantage of it. We basically saw when Egbuka and Flemming were hurt that Day could dial up different concepts with Xavier Johnson and 2 TE sets that helped the team function better.

It's a function of recruiting so well at one position that Day is more one dimension with his sets because he feels those players give him an advantage but McCord really can't take advantage of it. Xavier Johnson and Gee Scott jr provided better blocking for the run game while giving different looks in the passing game and Xavier provided another running threat. It took pressure off McCord and make for less reliances on time/accurate throws on the move.

Hey, maybe Jonathan smith hasn't signed the deal with sparty yet. Legendary Beav qb and coached them back from the dead (actually like smith but wouldn't choose him over Day boat yet).

I’m going to hold my judgement on any Sparty hires after recent results lol.

So we're going down no matter what (it's only been 70+ years of consistent success compared to anyone else) so lets stick with the lest crap?

Sorry, if we are going don anyway, I'd rather take a swing at a guy who can do better than sub 20% vs anyone with a pulse.

Not at all. I believe Day can lead us to success in the Game and we can win a NC under him. If not, I’d want him gone. Do I feel as confident as I did at 11:59 today, absolutely not. But I do believe he can lead us to the top of the mountain with higher odds than any other reasonble coach.

Seperately, I do acknowledge that every coaching hire - or decision to stay the course - potentially leads even the bluest of bloods to spiral into a pit of mediocrity or worse. One bad hire leads to an exodus of talent, the replacement has to dig out of a hole in a very short time frame. Rinse and repeat.

But make no mistake, I dont think the fear of that is ever an excuse to keep a coach if you dont think he is the best option.

To me, losing the game sucked but it happens. What’s bothered me the most is that TTUN has gone out of its way to be as demeaning as humanly possible toward our team. Belittling the coach, belittling the players. And the last two years it has looked on the field like our coaches and players don’t care at all. If we lose, whatever. But where is our pride? Why is this program so okay with being publicly mocked ad nauseum by TTUN?
Yes and it’s now part of our torture. TCUN has been unbearable as victors but this is what happens when you basically win for 20 years straight.

I totally agree though that it just seems like we don’t care that we’ve lost. Maybe that’s the national recruiting? I don’t know but damn I miss having a blue collar team like the ones from 2007-2016.

Oddly never realized but the moment Day got here our identity changed. At this point I hope Day can get it figured out but I must say if coach Day goes to AM or the pros then I’d sort of be down to see what’s out there too.

Not saying I want Day gone but I wouldn’t be distraught if he left either

The amount of acceptance and water carrying for Ryan Day and Jim Knowles is disgraceful. Where are my Buckeyes at??

What the fuck do you want people to say? "He's a dickless piece of shit who should be fired and coach peewee football. He's a loser will never win and even if he does it will be in spite of his gutless, pathetic coaching." Is that good?

Lanning, DeBoer, Elko, Klieman, Leipold, Fickell, Whittingham.

None of those are more insane than doing the same shit all over again and expecting an entirely different result.

I don't get the obsession with Whittingham. He's had some good wins and has gotten his ass beaten red by any good team they've played.

Fickell is a solid coach who will inevitably drop 2-3 games , DeBoer is basically Ryan Day in a conference that doesn't play defense, Lanning is the new name that has won...jack shit so far.

All these names have potential, and none of them give me any reason they'd suddenly beat up top 5 Michigan teams on the road. None. Complain about Day because there's reasons to, but acting like any of these hot names will come in, win 10+ games and beat Michigan is just a different version of sucking your own dick.

The entire team and their fanbase have been projecting all their worst fears about their investigation on Ohio State. It's pretty pathetic, but what you expect from dumbasses.

Did you ever stop and think that maybe Ryan Day is the reason our players didn't step up?

"It's just a football game."
And then there's this heinous shit. How about you chucklefucks WIN THE FUCKING GAME before you start dancing like a bunch of fucking clowns. We had a freaking field day with "Jazz Hands," and now we're them. And Honda McCord shoots a fake jumper off his back foot just like he throws the football.

What in the wild wild world of sports is a-goin' on here?

Not to mention that Wittingham is in his mid-60s. Doubt he is going anywhere but why bring in an old coach unless you need a total rebuild/culture change. Not the case here.

Yeah this shit can’t happen before a game you need to win.

We have ONE goal every year in my eyes and that’s to beat TCUN.

Because without beating them? You can’t win the conference and then likely can’t win the title.

Just not acceptable to do things like this before the game.

I don't want the flavor of the month. I want a coach who fucking gets it. There's gotta be a guy out there from Tressel's or Meyer's tree that grew up in Ohio.
The Jim Tressel tree? That grew up in Ohio? Let's start the list. Jim Bollman, Jim Heacock, Mel Tucker, Luke Fickell, Mark Snyder, Paul Haynes, Taver Johnson, Mark Snyder, Jon Heacock, Marcus Freeman.

"The Cooper Years" to me, was the feeling that any big game was going to be lost.

Look at Day's record against CFP top 5 and tell me that the expectations are somehow different.

Some guys can win big ones and some guys beat up on the Indiana's of the world.

Pretty sure we have a handle on which one Day is.
I agree with you. Just pointing out that Cooper's bowl record was mostly in bowls that were not that important. Coop was fired mainly because he couldn't win one big game.Day is rapidly getting there.

That one big game kept Cooper from Championships. After this year, can you really say that? Now if Day can’t get us into the top 10-12 teams in the nation every year, we have a major problem, but I’m confident we make the playoffs every year for the foreseeable future.

This is Ohio State. We are the biggest brand in college football. A chimpanzee could recruit the talent to finish top 12.
