THE GAME, tOSU at tCun, Sat. 11/25, 12pm ET, FOX

The fact that we aren’t losing multiple games a year and are playing for more than just a trip to the Rose Bowl. When is the last time we played Air Force in a bowl game? That’s what the Cooper years felt like. This is nowhere near that.
The Cooper years were before the BCS or the playoff, so it was the Rose Bowl or some SEC also ran. You can't really compare. Cooper did actually go 1 for 1 in the Rose Bowl.

The Nebraska argument is so tired. They shouldn’t be as bad as they are but the contributing factor behind their decline has as much to do with population migration as it does anything else. The state just doesn’t have very good talent to pull from and with everything becoming so nationalized, they’re competing with way more teams than they used to in order to keep those people. It’s just a different game now and there’s pretty much nobody that is going to build a perennial contender in Lincoln, Nebraska, in modern times.

I know some people are in a different head space, but if you think any of those outside of Lanning, and maybe, maaaaaybe Whittingham, are better than Day you need to take a deep breath and re-evaluate. I see a lot of flavors of the month in there, some real solid coaches, but lowered expectations have a way changing perspectives.
Matt Campbell anyone?

I agree. Not every coach is a fit. Bill Davis had a resume that would make you think he could be a great hire and he was the drizzling shits. Maybe the worst assistant other than Fleming I’ve seen at OSU. But you can see on paper why that decision might have been made.

Coombs had no DC experience and was brought in because he was a friend that everyone liked. Even if you give the benefit of the doubt to him, it was clear after 2020 he wasn’t the answer, so demoting him a couple weeks into 2021 isn’t really a decision that a coach should be getting credit for.
His name isn't Tim Beck

Most new coaches come in and win a NC with the last guys talent in the first two years.

Day failed to do that miserably.

Could someone else come in and win with Day's talent?

Perhaps, but at this point who would be realistic names to poach ? Don't forget that unless A&M want to pay us for it, we need to part with many million dollars to fire Coach Day right now, so I guess that also needs to be taken into consideration.

Go actually know our history and I'll engage

OSU is elite in the fact that outside of a 10-15 year window in '80's to early '90's we have been a consistent national player. Especially in the past 20+ years.

But yeah, it will al fall apart because we fire Day's sorry fucking ass.

Not buying it.

What about my post makes you think I don’t ‘know our history’?

Look at ND for the 60+ years leading up to 1996. And the look at the past 30. Yeah, EVERY hire we make has a risk of tanking our future prospects. In fact, I’ll go as far as to say it is inevitable that it will happen at some point.

"The Cooper Years" to me, was the feeling that any big game was going to be lost.

Look at Day's record against CFP top 5 and tell me that the expectations are somehow different.

Some guys can win big ones and some guys beat up on the Indiana's of the world.

Pretty sure we have a handle on which one Day is.

Coop would have lost ND and probably Penn State as well. It's annoying how big games are only big games when we lose

So we're going down no matter what (it's only been 70+ years of consistent success compared to anyone else) so lets stick with the lest crap?

Sorry, if we are going don anyway, I'd rather take a swing at a guy who can do better than sub 20% vs anyone with a pulse.
