I know the "official" name of TBDBITL is "The Pride of the Buckeyes"...I was referencing the TSUN board thread listing 100 reasons to hate us, and one was that we didn't even know the real name of our band.

We can't be fighting amongst ourselves. Fuck them...that's what they want.

Let's do it. If Bosley did Wade Boggs and Mercury Hayes surely they did Rod. According to the Bosley website the nearest location to West Virginia is Columbus.

I was joking. From the looks of it...Dick Rod got his shit done at the Cabbage Patch factory...It's doll hair.

This will be Michigan's bowl game

By Larry Lage
Associated Press

Monday, November 17, 2008
ANN ARBOR, Mich. ? A Michigan-Ohio State joke was making its rounds on both sides of the border less than 24 hours after the Wolverines lost a school-record eighth game.
Did you hear they had to cancel the game?
No, why?
Because Michigan can't get past Toledo.
Yes, it's gotten that bad for college football's winningest team.
"I'm sure we'll hear all week that our guys have no chance," said Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez, whose Wolverines did, in fact, lose to the Rockets (2-8) this season.
Why does Rodriguez think the Wolverines (3-8, 2-5 Big Ten) have a shot to beat the 10th-ranked Buckeyes (9-2, 6-1)?
"It's 0-0 when you start," he said. "If they're favored by whatever and up 21-0 before you kick off, that's tough. But it's 0-0 when you start.
"We've got some young guys and they've got some young guys.

Michigan tickets should be available

By Rusty Miller
Associated Press

Monday, November 17, 2008
Remember when Michigan-Ohio State week was really special? Now Michigan is 3-8, the first time the Wolverines have failed to win TWO games in a row in a season since 1962.
And, truth be told, there's not a real groundswell of excitement in Columbus, either. A small percentage of bandwagon fans jumped off when the national title was no longer a possibility.
Then there is an element of Buckeye Nation that would just as soon the Buckeyes NOT go to a BCS bowl game, such as the Rose (where it might draw a rematch with USC and get tagged with an embarrassing, season-ending loss for a third time in as many years).
Many fans have their fingers crossed that they somehow draw a matchup with the champion of the ACC or Big East, two conferences which are even further down the pecking order than the Big Ten. Maybe that way Ohio State's followers would have a smile on their faces all winter.

Upsets stand out in OSU-UM rivalry
Stunners few and far between
By JOE VARDON
BLADE SPORTS WRITER
In the moments following Michigan's 21-14 loss to Northwestern Saturday, coach Rich Rodriguez already knew what the pundits would say about his Wolverines leading up to this weekend's game against rival Ohio State. "I'm sure [we'll] hear all week that our guys have no chance," Rodriguez said. Betting lines for the game between unranked UM and No. 10 Ohio State were not available yesterday afternoon, but it would be a huge upset if the Wolverines were to win. UM is headed to Ohio Stadium this weekend having already set the school's single-season record for losses with eight, while the Buckeyes are fighting for another Big Ten championship and Rose Bowl berth. Upsets are rare in this rivalry, but they do happen. Since 1937, the lower-ranked school has won 21 times, and only eight times has an unranked team knocked off its ranked opponent. The last year that happened was 2004, when Ohio State stunned then-No. 7 UM 37-21 in Columbus. When an upset has occurred, according to the players and coaches who pulled some of them off, it was because the underdog refused to dwell on the discrepancies between teams that made its opponent such a decided favorite. "I'm paraphrasing now, but [legendary UM coach] Bo [Schembechler] used to say the upset is always in the mind of the favorite, not the underdog," said Jim Brandstatter, an offensive tackle for Schembechler during the Wolverines' famous 24-12 triumph over then-No. 1 Ohio State in 1969. Brandstatter, now the color commentator on UM's radio broadcasts, said the Wolverines entered the game in 1969 believing all along it could play with the defending-national-champion Buckeyes.

Rookie success

Despite Michigan's 3-8 record, first-year coach Rich Rodriguez should take heart: Dating back 79 years, each of the past six Michigan coaches has won his first Ohio State game. A closer look:
YEAR COACH RESULT
1995 -- Lloyd Carr W, 20-14
1990 -- Gary Moeller W, 16-13
1969 -- Bo Schembechler W, 24-12
1959 -- Bump Elliott W, 23-14
1948 -- Bennie Oosterbaan W, 13-3
1938 -- Fritz Crisler W, 18-0
1929 -- Harry Kipke L, 7-0

Even at 3-8, it's still Michigan
Bad teams have salvaged seasons with win in rivalry
Monday, November 17, 2008 3:07 AM
By Ken Gordon

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
It takes some serious squinting to look at Michigan's 3-8 record and see the potential for a Wolverines upset Saturday in Columbus. Michigan has been dreadful this season, in ninth place in the Big Ten and loser of six of its past seven games.
Ohio State, on the other hand, can clinch a share of the Big Ten title with a victory and would stand a good chance at making a Bowl Championship Series game.
OSU coach Jim Tressel is 6-1 against his arch rivals, and the Buckeyes have won four straight. Ohio State (9-2, 6-1 Big Ten) has never won five in a row in the series.
With all the motivation on the Buckeyes' side, that would seem to make the outcome a no-brainer.
But in the history of this storied rivalry, there are always interesting pages to flip to that can support any possibility, and this year is no exception.
The last time one of the teams came into The Game without a shot at the Big Ten title was 2004, when a 6-4 Ohio State squad upset the seventh-ranked Wolverines, denying Michigan an outright league crown.
The last time either team came into the game with a losing record was 1988, when the 4-5-1 Buckeyes nearly toppled No. 12 Michigan before falling 34-31.
And then beyond the numbers, there's just the pure emotion of this rivalry that can make a difference. OSU receiver Brian Hartline said the chance to rid themselves of 2008's bad taste might fuel the Wolverines on Saturday.

Beating OSU would be like bowl win

BY CHRIS LAU ? FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER ? November 17, 2008

The word "salvage" was said repeatedly in the Michigan news conference after Saturday's 21-14 home loss to Northwestern.
adlabel_horz.gif

The players already knew they won't play in a bowl game for the first time in 34 seasons. And they had just lost their eighth game of 2008, most in a season in program history.
But they have one more game this year, against archrival Ohio State, which has beaten U-M (3-8, 2-5 Big Ten) six of the past seven meetings.
An improbable win might feel like a bowl game victory and create a happy ending in Rich Rodriguez's miserable first season as coach.
"It would be great for our seniors, more than anything else," Rodriguez said of a class of 16 players who have never beaten the Buckeyes. "And, again, it would make me feel better than I do right now.
"It won't salvage the whole season, but it certainly will make you feel a lot better because of the rivalry and all the frustration we had this year.
"You'll be able to get some of it out if you can play well and have success."
Rodriguez won't have to worry about any motivational talks this week. Cornerback Donovan Warren talked after the Northwestern loss about "all the anger" that has built up, and that "we're going to put it all on the line in Columbus on Saturday."
The effort is one thing, but Ohio State (9-2, 6-1) should be equally fired up.

Commentary: This Game is far from the same

Journal Register News Service
It's Michigan week, in case you haven't noticed. And given Michigan's 3-8 record, there is a decent chance you haven't.

This isn't 2006 anymore. The party hats and horn blowers from two years ago, when the Buckeyes and Wolverines entered ranked Nos. 1 and 2, have been replaced with a nap and a snooze button.

Ohio State needs a victory to clinch a piece of the Big Ten pie, but it's difficult to get excited for a game that appears as lopsided as a bug vs. a windshield. This rivalry, in fact, hasn't been much of a rivalry since Earle Bruce was carried off the field atop his players' shoulders following the Bucks' surprising victory in 1987.

Since then, the two programs have taken turns landing uppercuts for decades at a time.
