Game Thread THE GAME: Ohio State 42, Michigan 7 (Nov. 22)

The 24 seems like entirely too many points. The largest final margin between the two teams has been 16 in the past 10 years.

Maybe the bookies know something, but I don't know.

How many of those games during the last ten years was one of the teams 3-8 coming in, with a first year head coach that wipes his nose on his sleeve, going against a coach that is 6-1 and currently on a four game winning streak? Thought so.

But don't forget, Michigan has Mike Barwis now.

Oh, they didn't lift before Barwis got there. However many years Michigan football has been around and all those NFL players, they didn't know what a weight was. Now they have Barwis and are Supermen. :wink2:

I still want to puke when I think about how ESPN and others were hyping him in the preseason.

Michigan better not lose, or Barwis will make them run back to Ann Arbor, pulling an airplane with their teeth while barefoot.

First time in my life that the Buckeyes can MAKE SURE that Michigan ends their season with a loss. And what a sorry excuse for a season it has been. 3-8? At least Lloyd Carr would have the troops at 8-3 or 9-2. You know what is even more embarassing? Wisconsin. They lost to these guys...and really shouldn't have. Does anybody know if Threet is going to be healthy? Does anybody know if it matters? Will anybody on Michigan be healthy after this game? Is it sad that there are three other college football teams in the state up North better than the Weasels? THEY LOST TO TOLEDO!!! :shake:

But in all seriousness...it's The Game...so we need to bring our A-game. It'd be fun to win by 50...but no need to piss them off, last time we put 50 on them, the next year's game was not so much fun. I would like to see us get up by 30 in the first half, and then just shut them out the rest of the way and stick with that lead. I'm more excited with the fact that we could hold them to 0. That would be sweet. 30-0 would amazing! Then again...i'll be happy with any win against Michigan, no matter how bad they are.

Yeah, Stassen only went back to 1904. Not sure why that would be since the parameters to search were 1869 - 2007

Edit: Tried the same search but with Michigan v. Ohio State instead of Ohio State v. Michigan. Put additional scores in prior post.

Says Ohio State was non D-IA for several years 1897 - 1912, but not including 1904..... BB73 - Know what this may all be about?

It gets data from James Howell's website for that. tOSU joined the Big Ten in 1913, and before that were a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference starting in 1902 (until 1921), but divisions didn't really start until 1937, so any classification is arbitrary.

That must be it, but I wonder if that's a new thing from Howell's site. I don't recall ever seeing such a notation any other time I've used Stassen to acquire Game info.

I suppose it's possible I just never noticed, but I doubt that. Anyway, thanks for the response.

Go Bucks! Beat Blue!

The week is here!

Just some more fodder. With a win, Ohio State will join only 4 other teams to have a 5 game (or more) win streak versus Michigan.

Even 4 game win streaks versus the Wolves are fairly rare, and generally occurred before most internet posters were born.

4 Game Win Streaks Versus M:
Harvard
Illinois
Michigan State (3 times)
Minnesota
Notre Dame
Ohio State (3 times counting the current streak)
Penn

5 Game Win Streaks Versus M:
Army (1945, 46, 49, 50, 54)
Purdue (1962-1965)

7 Game Win Streak Versus M:
Cornell (1889, 90, 91, 91, 92, 92, 94)
That's not a typo. Guess they played twice a year in the 1800's. Probably gives a bit of insight to the state of college football at the turn of the century when Michigan was racking up MNCs.

9 Game Win Streak Versus M:
Minnesota (1934-1942)
