Game Thread THE GAME: Ohio State 42, Michigan 7 (Nov. 22)

Opening line is Michigan +24.. Damn that's not as bad as I thought. I figured they'd see Siler + Purdue= 48 points, Pryor = Siler x 10000000, and add in Wells and a stiffling ass defense and it's a wrap. 24 means I guess they think the rivalry effect will keep it closer then an amazingly easy blowout.

Edit: hmm just got posted above me.

Maybe the bookies know something, but I don't know.

Well, to put it bluntly, Michigan fucking sucks this year, and we're peaking offensively and have looked excellent on defense (aside from the Illinois game).

That being said, Michigan's players are going to play harder than they have all season.

Games where a line of 24 would have been covered

Michigan 28 Ohio State 0, 1993
Michigan 31 Ohio State 3, 1991
Ohio State 50 Michigan 14, 1968
Ohio State 28 Michigan 0, 1962
Ohio State 50 Michigan 20, 1961
Michigan 58 Ohio State 6, 1946
Michigan 45 Ohio State 7 1943
Michigan 40 Ohio State 0 1940
Ohio State 38 Michigan 0 1935
Ohio State 34 Michigan 0 1934
Michigan 33 Ohio State 6 1909
Michigan 40 Ohio State 0 1905
Michigan 31 Ohio State 6 1904
Michigan 36 Ohio State 0 1903
Michigan 86 Ohio State 0 1902
Michigan 36 Ohio State 0 1897

As is typical for Michigan, turn of the prior century dominance skews the numbers heavy in their favor.

5-5 in such games since 1934... if I may arbitrarily pick a year... :wink2:

any reason why you left out the worst of them all? 1902

Yeah, Stassen only went back to 1904. Not sure why that would be since the parameters to search were 1869 - 2007

Edit: Tried the same search but with Michigan v. Ohio State instead of Ohio State v. Michigan. Put additional scores in prior post.

Says Ohio State was non D-IA for several years 1897 - 1912, but not including 1904..... BB73 - Know what this may all be about?

For all who know the LVSC, it's the Las Vegas Sports Consulatants. They are the official "opening line" for sports bets. They put Ohio State as a 24 point favorite. But usuallly the LVSC Open line is off a bit, when the main gambling sites figure out what the line really should be to keep bets even. The line they have been using is 19 to 19.5. Sportsbook.com and BookMaker.com have it at 19, and 5 dimes Sportsbook has it at 19.5.

I brought the fact that the line was going to be huge up a few weeks ago, and I think the most Ohio State has been favored may have been in 1969. Not sure though, but 19 would definitely be a larger spread than that. I don't know where LVSC got 24. When I saw that I knew everyone else would have it lower, 24 is way to high. Doesn't mean we won't win by 24, just means that a lot more people would take Michigan than Ohio State if the line were 24. I figured the line would be 20.5 if it WERENT a rivalry. I figured the rivalry factor would get it down to 17 or so. Not that it means anything other than how people would bet.

I'd take a 1 point win in a heartbeat. Just win baby!! Go Bucks! BEAT MICHIGAN!!!
