Game Thread THE GAME: Ohio State 42, Michigan 7 (Nov. 22)

Amazing to really think about what this group of seniors has accomplished. They never lost to scUM. They went to 2 NC games. They won 4 straight Big Ten Championships. And everyone of the captains weren't even super star recruits coming out of high school. I know we've all been a little critical of the leadership this year, but I was so proud watching the captains interview after The Game. They had their problems but they fought through. Congrats to these guys! Buckeye Nation is proud!

Ugh long road trip day with no radio or anything.

Who won? :biggrin:

Actually I saw the halftime score on my phone and thought it was going to be a close one.

Then I checked in the 4th and it was 42-7 and I thought Holy Cow! because there was still 10 minutes left. I can only assume it was an awesome game and I hope someone puts it up on BP sometime soon so I can check it out.

Ok, time to read 100 pages or so of posts...

:oh:

I will say this. When Pryor threw that interception, and Michigan got the ball in great field position, Ohio Stadium got as loud as I have ever heard it, and i've been to every home game for many many years. That was nuts. Each down it kept getting louder, feeling that Michigan was going nowhere but backward. And then the missed field goal. TOTAL AWESOMENESS!!! That was a lot of fun! First half was typical Ohio State vs. Michigan football. Second half was an all out party in Columbus, felt a lot like 2004, except Michigan just wasn't good on offense at all. I was sad that they scored at all, and very likely could have gone the whole game without scoring. At least according to the stadium scoreboard, Michigan had negative total yards in the first quarter. Great game. Lots of fun! I hope Michigan gets better, because that was embarassing. I'm sure even if they would have been good, we still would have won. But we pretty much could have named the score there in the second half. We really could have scored every time we had the ball after we wore them down. It shouldn't be that way. Michigan shouldn't play soft. Michigan shouldn't be in such terrible condition that they can't move, tackle, or play football in the second half. Michigan came to play. They brought their A game. We came to play as well. But once the second half rolled around, we were just in so much better shape than them, that they couldn't hang. It's sad, but it was like playing a rivalry game with a D1-AA team. Rich Rod is a terrible coach. Some of the play calls were ugly.

Michigan obviously 'planned' to go as a team into our huddle at midfield after warm-ups and start shit. The Buckeyes didn't provoke it, but they obviously weren't going to ignore the Wolverines when they just starting taunting us at mid-field before the bands game out. I don't know how much was shown on TV, but it obviously fired up The Buckeyes and the crowd. Quite possibliy the STUPIDEST thing Michigan could have done before the game. Not that Ohio State wouldn't have been fired up regardless, you could tell that just pissed the players off, and I think was a big reason while our defense stepped it up a notch in the 1st quarter. That was the best quarter our defense has played all year.

Usually the team that wants it more wins The Game. Well, this year I think both teams wanted it, but Michigan is out of shape and just didn't have the players to hang with ours. Good effort Michigan...keep trying and maybe you'll get a bowl game again in the next few years.

That was fun. 365 days until The Game!

Go Bucks!!!!!!!!

Great win!!

:oh::io:

I am ashamed to admit that I put down my portable tv for a few minutes while I was acting as an usher at a funeral today during parts of The Game....as I was getting some stares....

...but in my defense you were up big when I did.

I know....my constitution for The Game is weak.:(

I apologize.

Were you at least able to stay awake through that snoozer against Citadel?

Watching the scUM sidelines was like watching toddlers fight over a toy. They were imploding on themselves, the coaches and anyone they could locate. Its obvious that some players in Ann Arbor understand this rivalry, where Dick Rod does not.

Somehow, scUM ran the same sweep right play about 20 times, and it worked for 5 yards or more a lot more than it ever should have.

Best throw TP made in the first half was when he threw one away on third down to avoid a sack. He's maturing before our very eyes.

The boeck-man chant sent shivers down my spine as it rained down from the shoe.

The best part?

It came before the td pass

A great senior day and final home game for a class act. Hats off to you, Todd.

:bow:
For those that missed this, it was because griese was too busy ranting about Todd's lack of PT, and so their analysts paid not attention to the game and stands.

It was not loud, but very solid in the south endzone at least.

What a wonderful sendoff and one greatly deserved.

One of my favorite shots is Todd overcome with joy running towards Hartline.

Great win and once again we as Buckeye fans get to live happily for the next 365 days.

I'm sure that Caoch Hayes is somewhere up there enjoying the hell out of this "5 In A Row" thing. However, something tells me that he is not completely pleased with the outcome of this game. In the back of my mind I'm thinking that Coach would have challenged the "no safety" call. And regardless of the outcome of the refs decision, it would have made for a great interview question after the game.

"Coach" why did you challenge to gain the extra 2 points when you were already up by 35 points?"

Coach Hayes: "Beacuse I couldn't challenge for an extra 3." :biggrin:

Peace, and as always;

GO BUCKEYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
