Game Thread THE GAME: #1 Ohio State 42, #2 Michigan 39 (11/18/06)

ABC is airing Football Rivalries OSU/scUM today. For those west coasters on the board it's showing at 3:30pm, not sure for the other time zones so check your local listings.

UPDATE: seems as though this is airing only in some select regions.

You know...it's not very often a school can say this...let alone schools like Ohio State and Michigan, two of the most storied football programs in the history of college football...but both schools could very well claim this to be the biggest game in school history.

Good job going 11-0 boys...but that doesn't mean much now. Does anything else matter but this Saturday? GO BUCKS!!! BEAT MICHIGAN!!!

[FONT=Verdana, San Serif, Helvetica]I know matchups don't mean a lot, especially in THE GAME, but it still isn't going to stop me from trying. Need some football fix. 6 days is too long to wait.

OSU O-Line vs. UM D-Line: UM D-Line
OSU RBs vs. UM front 7: UM front 7

OSU Receivers vs. UM back 7: OSU Receivers
Troy Smith vs. UM front 7: damned if I know. IMO this will determine the outcome of the game.

UM O-Line vs. OSU D-Line: OSU D-Line
UM RBs vs. OSU Front 7: OSU Front 7
UM Receivers vs. OSU back 7: OSU back 7
Henne vs. OSU front 7: OSU Front 7

Your thoughts?

I think our OL will hold its own against their DL. That it turn will allow our RBs to be successful against their front seven. Michigan will not stuff our run like they have other teams...

could someone help me out by telling me where to go for the video clip filmed among the players during pregame, skull session, and then running onto to the field? it's the one that practically puts you in the shoes of a player. i've searched for it and browsed the video threads to no avail. i have yet to watch a buckeye video that gets me as pumped up as this one does.

many thanks and greenies.

What he said. A real battle but especially late in the game, our lines will rule.

Seems to me like both DLs will have a lot of sucess...I don't see either team running the ball that well. I'd be fine with it coming down to QB play. Troy steps it up in The Game...he, Pittman and Tressel know how to win this game. Carr, Henne and Hart are still clueless.

If Boone is out I don't think our O-Line wins the battle against their DL - not mano a mano. But that is not as important to us as the reverse is to them. Smith is mobile and innovative. We can move the ball even if we can't run much or throw downfield.

IMO the real question is can we get to Henne. If so, we are golden. If not it comes down to special teams and breaks.

I ran numbers comparing OSU's and UM's winning margins against (1) all opponents, (2) Big 10 opponents (both had 7), and (3) common opponents.

The OSU margins of victory are better than Michigan's margins of victory by the following amounts:
1. All opponents: 118 points, for an avg. of 28 vs. 17
2. Big 10 opponents: 98 points, for an avg. of 30 vs. 16
3. Common opponents: 95 points, for an avg. 32 vs. 13

But I suspect there are no stats that will factor in next Saturday. It's all on the line for both teams.
