Game Thread THE GAME: #1 Ohio State 42, #2 Michigan 39 (11/18/06)

I just got home from spending a weekend in Kentucky. When we went out last night, I had my typical Buckeye gear on. Must have had ten people yell "Go Bucks" and tell us to kick the shit out of Michigan.

This is going to be the longest week...ever.

I think that when they announce the seniors for the last time, I will probably shed a tear. Can you imagine when Pitcock, Smith, and Zwick are announced? Christ... It's the end of an era.
______________

I think back to that class coming together during the recruiting period and it does not seem so long ago. One heck of a run on their watch no matter what happens from here - 54 wins already in the past five years. No other players in OSU history have won so many games.

Get a strange feeling this season sitting in the middle of Buckeye history for the ages, and watching it happen. To think of icons of old and realize these players/coaches may be the best yet.

While I hate getting old it is good to be able to share that perspective - one that you can only appreciate if you have lived through a lot of seasons.

Granted, it is mostly a scheduling issue, but Woody never won more than 11 gams in his career, and that only once. The program only had four season winning 11 prior to Tressel, and he has just done it for the third time. And all this with the challenge of 'parity'.

That's what I thought in 2003 when guys like Scott McMullen and Ben Hartsock were done.

It was kind of weird seeing guys who I had played against in High School going out of college and into the NFL a few months later.

Henne reckons they deserve to win

"We've talked a lot about finishing, because a year ago, we couldn't finish,'' Henne said. "This is all that we wanted, everything, but we know there's still one game out there. It's all about finishing. We need to come out for one more win.
"I haven't beaten Ohio State, but we deserve to win this.''
Henne didn't elaborate. He didn't have to.

Nothing like putting a little extra pressure on yourself there Chad - and thanks for the first Bulletin Board material to fire up the Buckeyes.:tongue2:

I hope and pray they print that quote off, and stick it to every one of our player's lockers! Then every time our D sacks him they can ask if he deserves the win any more than they do.

Although, I did read the article. The writer makes a comment about one team going home broken-hearted....

Wellll, that got me thinking. Since The Buckeyes are ALREADY at home.......see where I am going with this one?

I am just curious as to what exempliary thing they have done to "deserve" to win. He, above all people , should know by now that you don't get handed this game. You get this game in the trenches. You get this game by hitting harder. You get this game by being prepared. You win this game with focus. You win this game by outgutting your opponent when you think you have nothing left to give.
That Mr. Henne is how and why and why you get to "deserve to win" In this game. It is probably why you havent won yet.
