Went to the SPCA and picked up a companion for my giant derphound. Now Mocha is hanging with a mixed shepherd named "Bruno". He is so chill, even Mocha seems calm. Great dog. Affectionate, already house broken, knows commands to sit, stay, shake, etc. And stays next to your leg while walking on lead like he's been obedience trained. They found him abandoned on a rural road. GREAT f-in dog. The kids love him, and Mocha seems very happy.

More Bruno. Keeping a dog that was not raised as a puppy - but a wild adult dog - is interesting. Bruno not only jumped the gate, when caught and put in my large crate by the neighbor, he destroyed the hard plastic crate floor in his unhappiness. He is currently chewing the plywood I have blocking the gate in an effort to get out. Now, he runs to me whenever I am around, won't leave me alone, and demands to be petted. But turn your back and he wants out! What he wants is for us to be here for him when he needs food and some pack time, but to run the roads at will like he used to. We'll see how it works out. I will need to take a day off work next week to replace the drive gates. That $80 mutt is gonna be expensive when the smoke clears

Heads up for dog owners. If you feed your dog any kind of chicken jerkey treats like the one below, check the packaging carefully. Most of it is coming from China, and the chinese made crap has killed over 300 dogs recently. There is no specific brand warning (probably all comes out of the same factory like with the last batch of deadly chinese dog food a few years ago), so if it's made in China, best to just throw it out.
