A friend became a scout (still is) for the Bengals and shared this story, "We're on the bubble and we're debating over three guys we want. We make our choice and Mike (Brown) walks into the room, listens to our reasons and says, "Forget that, we're taking Kligler." Klingler wasn't even mentioned in our conversations."

So yeah, there are people who are dumber than the scouts.

My best friend grew up a Bengals fan. Mike Brown finally pissed him off and disgusted him enough that he went full turncoat and became an active Bengals hater. And he's a super-loyal dude generally (still a die-hard Reds fan if you need evidence)

That's pretty much me with the Browns. All this reincarnation is doing is pissing all over a pretty strong legacy.

I got to a point a couple of years ago where i just wished they were never resurrected.

I don't hate Ohio. I love Ohio State because there is a commitment to winning there that is absent from the Bengals and was stolen from the Browns to cover bad business practices. And for that matter my love for the Browns was stolen from me to create a TV market for Paul Brown to pass on to Mikey Boy, Vice President of Corporate Piddlies (Bless you Gary Burbank).

Now then, why am I writing about this oppn a Big Ten is irrelevant thread? Because that is the nature of conversation, it wanders from topic to topic and a provocative post that commits thread jacking is just what happens when sports fans converse.

Cinci, I was joking, because I'm drunk. But not as drunk as I'm going to be. Goddamn right. Its Saturday night. I appreciate the fact that you needed to comment about the Bengals. Just as I appreciate that the Browns fans have to speak up. And I'm not trying to piss people off, just joking. But....

Cleveland Browns
Cincinnati Bengals
Ford Edsel
New Coke

Chernobyl

Disclaimer: I do not give a shit about the NFL. Free agency ruined the sport. Loyalty is what makes sports awesome in my imo. But I do like the Josh McCown lulz and the Manziel hookers, blow and rehab and the "I told you so" opportunities in the draft. At least the Bengals don't draft shitty QBs and coke addicted criminals. Wait wut?

I don't think it's ruined pro football ----- yet. There hasn't been a mass move of FAs to the Jets or Giants and the lack of a team in LA helps. Jerry gets a few, but limiting the payroll and his own need to be in charge negates the attraction. The only one that sticks in my craw is the deal that allowed the Giants to cherry pick Eli Manning.

Free Agency is certainly a part of why I don't pay attention to MLB anymore. Unlike the NFL, MLB's big owners refuse to even the revenue field.

What if the draft were somewhat modified - do you think the Cardinals would have been Beanie's first choice? Could Troy have been a starter if given his pick of teams? An athlete only has a few years to find a spot and make his name. A bad fit at the very beginning can ruin an otherwise promising career.

It's odd how different people can look at the same thing and see it completely different.

The two sports where the league has turned to salary caps and parody the most (NBA & NFL) are basically dead to me. I love baseball more now than I ever have.
