The 2020 College Football Season

It’s so difficult to picture the season not happening. Makes me feel dead inside. Might sound dramatic, but it’s crushing. I can’t comprehend “It’s just football” or whatever the outside viewpoint might be.

We joke around here about years being shaved off of our lives, but I think this season might be the one that is actually detrimental to my health with the way things are looking. I don’t know how to fathom it. Just keep telling myself it’ll get straightened out.

I hate everything about this year.

I need a drink.

The Ivy schools all have endowment funds that don’t depend upon athletic success, nor do they have a lucrative TV contract to worry about. The Big Five can’t say the same, but faculties are finding their voices. This could be an explosive July and the field reports of how difficult it is to keep a team clean aren’t helping.

this is what I was sure would happen with aids.

Would the SEC just separate from the NCAA before cancelling its season? No season could absolutely murder college town economies.

The SEC would probably find a way to play only themselves and then crown a national champion out of it.

The winners fan base would of course claim this as a "100% legit title" until the end of time

If football does get moved to the Spring I wonder what months they are talking about. Some February's and even March's around here can be brutal. Hard to believe that they would wait until April.

I also wonder if they would work the guys who have signed letters of intent in December and February. How Many guys would they let be on scholarship and how many would be able to play.

It would be interesting to see who they would allow to play. Would they make schools declare a roster in December for Spring football. I could also see guys like Fields, Davis, and Myers playing or opting out not to play. Similar to a bowl game situation.

I sure as hell hope it does not come to this but every day something new comes up regarding this Chinese virus.

NCAA wouldn’t mandate the shutdown, would be the league presidents, no?

Cowherd had a great segment on this today. The SEC has the stomach for this. Negative press from New York, DC, Boston and California media doesn’t bother them, because that’s all they get anyway.

In short, they already shrug off when you call them in-bred, redneck, simpleton cousin humpers. You think it’s gonna bother them when you call them COVID Captains?

I think the SEC and B12 are playing. The question is if the B1G and ACC are playing.

The PAC12 is done. COVID is the perfect excuse for them to shut things down since the league is bleeding money.

Honestly, shut down everything from Monday-August to try and save school and fall sports.
I’ll deal with the gloom and isolation. Please please please!

If you move football to the spring, I think two things are likely to happen. First, most players who plan to enter the NFL draft will not play. Second, there will be a substantial increase in injuries in the fall 2021 season. You would be asking players for 24 (at least) games in 9 months.
