The 2011 Ohio State Buckeyes: What will their legacy be?

Anyone remember The Game 2004, aka Troy Smith's coming out party? It seriously took the sting out of a shitty season which was eerily similar to this year (6-4 going into The Game then, 6-5 going into The Game next week).
That's what I thought as well. That scUM team showed up lazy and fat, unmotivated and unfocused.I don't think this year's scUM team is going to be there like that. They don't have good players, but I think Posey's suspension is a going to sting and he gets shut down by Countess. (btw, what the fuck is that name? Chick's name) Aniway, I see scUM bottling up Miller like they bottled up Martinez/Burkhead. I don't see our offense scoring anything more than 14 points.

Thanks to Ukraine_Buckeye's post, I've had the opportunity to watch the Purdue game and half of the game between Nebby and scUM. (My computer got shot just after that game's half) I have a 0-1 record watching tOSU's game on the computer this season. I don't know whether I should watch it, or not.

Agreed that this UM team has a lot to play for and will come out very motivated.

However, that UM team (2004 game) did score on their first two possessions and had a 14-7 lead in the 2nd quarter. It looked that offense with Henne, Hart, Braylon, Avant, and Breaston were going to be almost impossible to stop early in that one. We out scored them 30-7 the rest of the way. That 7 came on a deep ball to Braylon over Fox (iirc).

The biggest difference between the two games are that in '04 it was in Columbus while this year we're going to the big house. Going on the road as a struggling team isn't always the worst thing, though. It forces focus and unity. If they come out like gangbusters like they did in Lincoln or on that first drive in Champaign, this one is going down to the wire, imo. If they come out like they have all November (spotting 10-0 leads in all three games), well it will get ugly, real ugly, imo.

The final Michigan game for a bunch of seniors that have never lost to Michigan; their destiny is in their hands. I think they come out on fire, honestly, and we have ourselves a 4 quarter football game.

Not sure that they can do anything to define their legacy on Saturday. Perhaps if Michigan were an undefeated or one loss team in the NC hunt, knocking them out would define their legacy. Now, I guess the best they can hope for is, "they didn't screw up the streak."

At the end of the day, this season's legacy is will be defined by terms like transition, interim and asterisk. It's negative, but I don't see it any other way.

Michigan is potentially a BCS team if OSU loses and MSU loses to Wisconsin INS the CCG.

there is a big difference between 10-2 while snapping the streak and 9-3 and still owned by the worst OSU team they'll face, followed shortly afterwards by a new regime.

These, hopefully. A lot of similarities to 04.

-Lots of talent, but not much in experience and age.
-Controversy surrounding former star players.
-Lost early, looked like the wheels came off, but then rebounded.
-1 inexperienced QB replaced by another
-Lose to Purdue at Purdue (damn, we are snake-bitten playing there)

Not everything will be the same - I think 04 MIGHT get the edge in the coaching stability area /sarcasm, but can we be lucky enough to follow this season with anything in the ballpark of 05-10?

Shutting up an overly confident (message boards, at least) scUM would the first step in the right direction.

This is clearly about the results of the Michigan game. Is this team going to come in feeling sorry for themselves and go out by getting their ass kicked by those douche bags up north..or are they going to rise to the occasion and show that they have the kind of character to keep competing. This is about representing Buckeye nation and showing the fighting spirit of the this university. This is about making the statement that no matter how much shit gets flung their way they aren't going to just give up.

No this season isn't one to be remembered, but this is the most important game of the year and winning it makes a HUGE difference in a transition year. With those bastards up north surging we've got to show that the balance of power in this rivalry isn't going to be shifting any fucking time soon.
