Thad Matta (OSU's All Time Winningest Coach & 3x B1G COY, Butler HC)

Four consecutive Sweet Sixteens. I didn't even consciously realize it was that many in a row until everyone started saying it after the Iowa State game. For me that is about as good as it gets, to have that kind of sustained success--and in our "secondary" sport! National championships would be great, that's the goal of course, but I can live very happily with BCS bowls and multi-weekend NCAA runs. These are golden years, Buckeye fans!

I just want the championship because Matta deserves it after all the work he's done. And the players who didn't have a guaranteed one and done caliber player this year....their work deserves it too.

And I'd be lying if I didn't want it slightly for selfish reasons as well.

Also, because Matta is a top 10 coach in they sport, but never gets the love he deserves.

I completely agreed with him about the selfish defense in the first half. He obviously made some changes or lit a fire in these guys as the second half was beautiful.

This. Whatever he said at half, it worked. The mid game adjustments this year have been great by Thad and the coaching staff

Congrats on win #250, Coach Matta. One more win gives him three consecutive 30 win seasons. This is year four in a row with at least 29. Amazing. :osu:
And the first time in my lifetime that OSU has gone to Elite 8 in back-to-back years! I'm glad my sons did not have to wait as long as I did to see that .

Regardless of what happens the rest of the season, I think we all can be very happy with how this year has played out. Thad has done a fabulous job getting this team to increase their play to a level which seemed unattainable through the first 3/4 of the season. The job that Matta and Jent and Dickerson have done with Ross and Thompson, in particular, has really been marvelous. Of course you have to credit the players as well for responding to the coaching and picking their games up. I probably should not be this awed or surprised at the team's development because Matta and company have an impressive track record of developing players, but this year it seems they have done an especially fine job getting this team to where they are now.

Two excellent coaching moves made by Matta. Bringing back Craft in the first half with two fouls to stop the Arizona run and putting Smith on Hill to slow him down. Comments about those moves are in the respective threads. Coach

Took some guts to put craft back in but it was a solid move.

Great coaching job by Matta this year. Does Bo Ryan want to surrender his B1G COY award now or later? Surely he shouldn't have gotten it instead of Matta.

Matta is getting into the UFM territory with the COY voting. You will never be the COY when everyone expects you to be the best.

At least he doesn't have to cut down the nets after a loss or pass out Sweet 16 rings to make himself feel better.
