Perhaps I haven't expressed my views well enough. The series does have everything to do with what the teams did afterwards. The first Texas/OSU will be remembered as a classic, with the winner winning the NC. The second game will be remembered for what it was. A one-sided win between two teams that went on to have mediocre seasons.

By the way, at least you had Troy Smith for half the game. We had a freshman QB in his second start for the entire game.

You are borderline trolling now...

I didn't realize getting to the NC game was considered mediocre...:(

Losing one game is a mediocre season?

Yes all of us Buckeyes were disappointed with our play in the NC, but as long as we beat Michigan (and win the Big Ten title outright) I would say it was a success....

You must be joking.

Troy did not become the Heisman quarterback until after the Penn State game. Yes, he did have a great game against Michigan but that play style was not what won him the trophy. I would say that our QB situation during the first OSU-Texas matchup was similar to the situation in the rematch, just reversed.

Well, I guess you guys will never even experience mediocrity again so long as Mack is there, because it took one of the best college QBs ever to get Mack to the title game, and trust me, he will NEVER go to another title game while at UT. The evidence? He was never there before VY, and this year was a three (could've been four or five) loss season, despite the loads of talent that you and your fellow UT fans were bragging about before the season. And now you lose Chizik? Game over, fella.

i want to retract my claim that we both had mediocre seasons. It's more a statement about my team's play. Getting to the NC game is a great accomplishment. Incidentally, anyone who reads my posts in this thread can see that I reserve all of my harshest words for my own team, the Longhorns.

Just curious--if our one-loss season in which we played in the NC game was "mediocre," how would you characterize your season in which you lost three games and came VERY close to losing to an Iowa team (in your home state, no less) that won one of its last eight?

Also, the post about Mack Brown was much more spiteful than my post.
Sorry pal, you brought that on yourself. Maybe when you don't scurry to an OSU board, bad mouthing OSU's season and proclaiming greatness in a split series with OSU... then you can complain. Your backpedaling didn't occur until after that statement was made, btw.

And to think I rooted for Texas last year... :roll2:

Texas had a better season last year than OSU this year. The rest is just some obscure argument to make yourself feel better (while ignoring the enormous flaw in OSU's team in 05).

Disppointing is a better word. for you, you werre disppointed that you didn't win the whole enchalada. For us, we were disppointed that we didn't get to a BCS game.
I don't think disappointing encapsulates 1 loss to the champs, beating Texas in the highest profile OOC game in 10 years, crushing Iowa's hopes at home in their highest profile game in a decade, beating UM in the most hyped installment in a long time (possibly ever), and watching our leader win the heisman trophy.

Yet that word also encapsulates getting crushed at home by OSU, losing yet again to "Big Game Bob", losing to KSU & aTm, and narrowly beating a terrible Iowa team?

I agree that there's no shame in losing to the champs. There is shame in how you lost. Again, I'm not defending our season, which basically sucked, but I wasn't aware that we lost to OU. As I recall, we beat them handily, 28-10. Has there been some post season re-working of the score that I wasn't aware of?

You say something like that and then you cry about comments about your coach?

That's smart.....:roll1:
