In the end Tennessee will get 1 of 2 types of coaches:
1. A big name coach who is just in it for a pay check, and will claim to bring the program to prominence. But have a befuddled and bewildered look by year 2, when the team is just as bad and the fans call for his head like Ol Butchie
2. A young coordinator who thinks he bring Tennessee back to prominence, but have a befuddled and bewildered look by year 2, when the team is just as bad and the fans call for his head like Ol Butchie
Their "list" of coaches is laughable and almost too unrealistic to take seriously.
THIS. Get a guy like Dan, temper expectations, give him room to breathe and shut the hell up if you are UT. If I’m a fan, I want a guy like this to be here a long time and look for success starting in year 3 or 4. Then up his pay. And keep him.If Tennessee can get Dan Mullen, they'd be set. Vols fans better hope their AD is smart enough to realize that.

Houston Nutt and Tom O'Brien come to mind.
MuschampThis maybe be an easier answer than I think, but has a Head Coach ever left a school for the same position at another school in the same conference?
While winning a game by kicking only FGs while the other team scored only TDs?This maybe be an easier answer than I think, but has a Head Coach ever left a school for the same position at another school in the same conference?
Thanks. Totally forgot about Nutt, but he also resigned and took a step down. O’Brien just never got assigned to my memory.
Not sure what you mean by step down, from what I can tell Nutt was making more when he got to Ole Miss...
But I just thought of another one: Tommy Tuberville, who went directly from Ole Miss to Auburn.
Dumpster fire does not even begin to explain UT right now. The Vol faithful are having a rough go of it lately (last 10 years). Turns out their savior, John Gruden, has been trolling them....again. A little deja gru from 2012. Now their best players are posting videos trashing the school and getting kicked off the team by an interim coach. Hoke is really popular in Knoxville right now...
