100%. Might sound ridiculous, but the mental aspect of the cheating was the most important. They still have confidence, especially in the rivalry, and without the 3 losses getting vacated yet its a huge burden and monkey to get off your back as a team.

You pretty much named it. If Day goes, half the roster will as well. It’s been a long time since OSU has had to rebuild and not reload. NIL and the transfer portal will almost certainly assure it will have to be a rebuild. Already one team that we can compare this to: Alabama.

We got very lucky with Tress & Urb being two coaches who got, and more importantly could actually get their teams up for The Game. Who else is out there? I don't know, but I'm not paid the big $$$ to find them. One thing we know for certain, Ryan Day cannot win The Game and keeping him around means you accept that.

He's a liability now. He wasn't before they ducked and cheated. When the other team pussies out of 2 straight losses, when it feels like they know exactly what you're doing (because they do) and they own you, it fucks with everything you think and do. Second guessing and overthinking becomes normal.

Doesn't matter one fucking bit now. Doesn't bring back wins or win new games. This just makes it that much less likely that Day can figure things out and get over the mental hump.

Day needs to take his own advice from half time. Play with emotion but don't be ruled by it. He's allowed himself to be ruled by it the last few years in this game.

There is one name out there who could probably hold the roster together and bring in a flush of talent who'll follow him. Dare I say it?
