TCUN BMW Thread - New Visitors Check This Thread Out before Posting Elsewhere

It’s not a myth. The formula for winning usually favors the team that runs the ball, stops the run, and wins the turnover battle. But it doesn’t mean that the game is unwinnable if you can’t run. It’s just harder and it involves taking more risks.

Day proved the adage today but he didn’t have to. I’ve seen games won by teams who totally abandoned the run. Day said during his postgame presser that you can’t do that but if the alternative is losing the game then you have to try. This game might have been won if they had tried running the 2-minute offense more in the second half. Maybe sprinkle in some runs but they wasted so many downs repeatedly running into a brick wall.
Yes stopping the run is important. We that most of the day. I'd argue you need to run enough to be functional not 100% drop back and still can't run when they adjust but we should have thrown thrown thrown ran the 2 min offense all 2nd half and then run it when they have 5 in the box.

Instead we kept wasting 2nd in manageable with poor running plays.

I'm actually leaning towards moving on from Day, but one nagging question is in the back of my mind? Where do we turn?

Vrabel: Has said a hundred times that he hates coaching college and will not recruit
Urban: The board and admin are not bringing back fucking Urban Meyer
Lanning: Home run, but he's not leaving the job security and Uncle Phil's money to step into the viper's nest in Columbus
G5 Flavor Of The Month: Historically more likely to be a bust than win an NC
NFL Coordinator: ?

Who else is out there?

Barbie went off on runs up the middle, and we had no answer is my memory. Day can be blamed for some losses, and there are others where there are legitimate reasons we lost other than coaching.. Shit happens, and Ohio State doesn't get to win every big game it ever plays in. I remember an entire decade when we didn't even get to play in big games.

If you're that wrapped up in it, you probably need to tune it out and take up a hobby.

After '14 and the incredible returning talent, the whole fanbase saw OSU asserting itself as a new dynasty. Can't blame anyone for the optimism. Never happened, though, and the fans never accepted that reality. With that perspective, it's been 10 years of disappointment and lost opportunity and a mostly miserable fanbase.

Unless OSU hits the lottery with a replacement, it's not going to get better. Just the coaching and player turnover will set thus program back and few years.

Urban also needs to let his offense die and modernize. The Age of the QB power spread ruling college football has passed

For three quarters anyway. Giving up 4th qtr drives seems to be a staple of Knowles’ defense. Soft cushion on their receivers, giving up 1st downs. Then giving up a gashing running play. Déjà vu.
Dude, they were absolutely exhausted by that time from being on the field too long. You saw that in the late broken tackle run. That's a one yard gain early in the quarter. My only surprise is that they stayed dominant for as late into the game as they did.

Which is why university admin won’t do it. They like Day winning 10 a year and making the playoff…they don’t care who the losses are to, as long as our logo is there in the final 12. They won’t take a risk for a home run hire when they could end up with Gerry Faust (RIP) with the wrong hire.

We can slap asterisks all over ttun's 2021-23, but after today, I don't feel all that confident tOSU wins those straight up. Maybe they get one with Stroud. Ryan Day is a huge liability in this rivalry. Not so long ago, we were counting the years until we tied the all time record up. Now we're falling farther and farther behind.
I think 2022 absolutely broke everyone’s back here. I think that game was absolutely stolen from us considering what we did to Georgia a few weeks later.

what’s worse than that loss is the fact we lost all confidence in ourselves vs them.

2022 was completely stolen from this team but IMO 2021/2023/2024 were not.

What Connor really did do though was killed our program mentally. That 2022 game set our program back 5 years with how badly that game was stolen.

This situation reminds me of how people used to not be able to clean and press 400 pounds. Once someone did it was then done multiple times after. It’s amazing what mentally blocks can do to a team and we absolutely have one now with TCUN.

100%. Might sound ridiculous, but the mental aspect of the cheating was the most important. They still have confidence, especially in the rivalry, and without the 3 losses getting vacated yet its a huge burden and monkey to get off your back as a team.

Yeah it's clearly a confidence thing at this point. Like some of our wins in Meyer era was confidence thing for TSUN.

Our drive before the last Tate who was having a great game inexplicably drops a 20 yard gain. Kicker doing whatever he was doing today. Burke not turning his head on the lolipop that was pick if he does.
