I don't want to get crucified for saying this, but I actually think Boyd made the right call. He's looking at early PT down there, which cannot be overestimated. It's closer to his family than Oregon. And the ACC is ripe for the pickin', so he could be looking at a BCS bowl down the line.

We all know Pryor is the man here and may be so for the next three years. Our disappointment is our hope for more depth and creative playcalling with TP at the wideout and Boyd at QB. But beyond that, we are pretty well set.

FWIW, I had privately been predicting Clemson for a while. Here are some PM's that I have sent over the past few days:

If you were going to "profile" Tajh Boyd as a recruit, what about him would make you say "Ohio State"? Southern kid, late decision, two previos commitments, media circus, inconsistent stories, wants immediate playing time, JT's "soft sell" approach, Clemson was his last visit.... The "fit" just wasn't there.

I know that "experts" rely on "information", but if you know that bad information is being fed to people, then you have to go with what makes sense ... and in Boyd's case, Clemson made the most sense ... and Oregon made no sense at all. Ohio State was somewhere in the middle, but there was just no way that the Buckeyes were going to win this battle.

I honestly think this will turn out ok for OSU. I dont know the kid but from the reports it seems him and his dad have a little of a Prima Donna aura about them.

Give me Gardner and Miller and I will be a happy Buckeye fan! I think Bauserman can be a good QB for us, we need some depth though.

Hopefully we can close with Hall and Brown. Those are going to be 2 tough battles though.

True, but every year it seems like there's a recruiting first. We got Cameron Heyward late out of the south with offers from the premiere programs down there. Pryor was a hotshot QB with a media circus who waited till the last minute. Boyd isn't from the deep south. We didn't have to get him out of Florida or anything like that. I think there was reason for optimism.

Too bad. If Boyd was sold on Clemson itself and the coaches, I understand. But I get the feeling he never saw the big picture. He could've redshirted and recovered fully from his surgery here, got some significant PT his rFR year, and possibly become a 3-year starter at a premeire program. Pryor being here shouldn't have been that big of a deal. Oh well.

Way off topic

Could we get a sticky in the recruiting forum, something like:

Things we already know about Oregon Football.

It would cover the amazing facilities, Nike money, hippies, Chip Kelly, "unique" uniforms, QBs in the NFL (even if they never play), lack of conference championships, distance from anywhere in the midwest, rainy weather, etc.

If we're going to go through this every year with QBs, it might be nice to address Duck fans' arguments ahead of time.

Just thinking out loud here.

After the dispatch article that suggested that Clemson must be out of the mix because of Boyd's plan to enroll for Spring ball, did anyone hear Boyd say anything at his presser about enrolling for Spring term at Clemson?
