Tajh Boyd (official thread)

As soon as I heard Clemson was getting involved, I feared that this would be the ending. Clemson is a great place, Sweeney, is very impressive from what I have heard, and the QB's at Clemson have done nothing to distinguish themselves. Clemson is the fresh new flavor of the week that you try once and fall in love with but within a short period of time (not short enough with NLOISD so close) you go back to your former classic favorite. It is just too early in Swinney's coaching career to predict success or failure, or what type of offensive system he eventually settles on.

I wish the young man well. I wonder if in the long run it will have been the best decision for a QB who wants to get to the NFL, as Swinney has no history, so we really do not know how their offense will prepare him, or if he will have enough talent, that translates to an NFL system, to progress to that level.

Unfortunate for the Buckeyes (and to an extent, Tajh too). He would have been a real boon for us, seeing as though we are extremely thin behind the player that scared him off.

Good luck to Tajh in the ACC.

well Good luck to Boyd, but IMO hopefully this doesn't cross the lines. With the recruits in 10' at the QB position I was kind of looking forward to that rather than getting one who wants immidate playing time in Boyd. Boyd's parents also just were awkward to me as well with the whole moving around deal.

I really hope Boyd understands that a Redshirt would be best for him though. If his knee is requiring surgery then an ACL like stated previously will need 6 months to be at full go. Thats a lot of time to miss for a football player. Good luck to you Tajh

without any inside information, I've always felt Clemson would be the choice at the end. Especially when Tajh said he didn't want to redshirt.

And I'm not comfortable telling incoming freshmen they are guaranteed snaps. I have no idea if that is what the Boyd's wanted, but TP doesn't need incoming true freshmen stepping on his toes, and it isn't conducive to a stable situation at the QB position. As hard I was on TP after the Fiesta Bowl, if he's going to make giant steps, it probably wouldn't help to move him wideout on specific plays for the sake of getting Tajh on the field.

It will be ineterseting to hear what closed the deal on Clemson though...sounds like a lot of people were misdirected on this one although Tajh's father was continually quoted as wanting him at CU.

I don't blame Boyd at all .Recruiting is a cut throat business you do what ever you got to do to get these top guys. Clemson sent there heavy hitter the guy that closes the deal in Billy Napier. The day before the announcement . JT sent bols .If you want to close the deal you send your closer .And anyone who thinks bols is it well .I got some lake front property in the desert if your interested .I bleed scarlet and gray .But if you wanna be big time then you gotta play like the rest. Clemson did in 2 weeks what we couldn't do in 2 months.I love JT but he recruits just like he coaches .He never goes for the jugular

You're kidding right? Come on. If tOSU doesn't land another recruit, this is still one of the best classes in the country. Get a grip.

People like Hollywood seem to forget how JT and company put together the meat of this class before the first snap of the 2008 season. I said it then, hopefully people will remember how pumped they were then when we were getting a commit a day when it got closer to LOI day. Apparently last minute commits are more important to Hollywood and other ledge sitters... The class is quite full (not full as in they'll take no more, just mean it's quite big as is) and the fact that OSU doesn't "land" every recruit at the last minute is meaningless.

I hope Clemson works out for Boyd. I think he is missing an opportunity here at Ohio State... but... I'm biased, and I'm not Tajh Boyd, so it doesn't much matter what I think.

Is this something you would he while the parents are in the room?

Unless you are talking about offering cash or lying what does it mean to go for a teenager's jugular?

The depth chart killed us.

Re: Tajh Boyd Update - 1:05 PM - UPDATED
It's been reported by a poster on TOS that Tajh Boyd's family was seen in Dicks Sporting Goods in Newport News, Va. buying Clemson Apparel fwiw.
