Super Bowl XL - Steelers vs. Seahawks

I see the Seahawks kind of like the Colts. If the Steelers defense can stop Alexander and pressure Hasselbeck like they did James and Manning they will win. If Alexander can gash the Steelers defense or the line can protect Hasselbeck the Seahawks have a good chance. I don't know how much faith I have in the Seahawks D to stop Big Ben, Parker and Bettis. IMO the Seahawks are going to have to score more than 27 points to win. While neither of these teams are my favorite I like both of them and think this should make for a good game.

I'm picking the Steelers but think the best team in the NFC being a 3.5 point dog to the 6 seed from the AFC is a stretch.

Vegas knows how to pull in some action on the Seahawks, that's for sure.

I figure that Seattle will defense Pittsburgh the same way Denver and Indy did. Do whatever they have to do to stop the run and force Ben to throw it. If he takes what they give him, and he doesn't try to force it into tight coverage, he should have another good game. If he has another good game, you have to like the Steelers' chances.

I'll say:

Steelers - 34
Seahawks - 14

It really is history making to have that #6 seed favored over the NFC #1.
It is also history making to have Seattle in the final dance at all.
Another history making factor - Bettis in his final game, one last chance for a Super Bowl ring to cap his career.
Then, you also have "one for the thumb" for the Steelers.

How many other points of note are there for this game?

Shaun Alexander's last game as a Seahawk????

Cowher's chance to win the big one.

Rothleiaueaeusberger's shot to become the youngest SB winning QB ever.

Holmgren's chance to become the first coach to win an SB with two teams.

I think the game is a toss up and too close to call for me... I'm leaning towards the Steelers but I'd never count out Holmgren as he's a great coach who finally got over the hump with the Seahawks this year.

Seahawks. The entire season no one has given them the respect and credit they deserve. Most thought they couldn't handle the Panthers, all this
"can't stop Steve Smith" talk (BTW that punt return should have been called back). And now the first day after the conference championships everyone is so quick to pick against them. That's fine though, I'm sure they're used to it by now.
