Sugar Bowl - LSU 41, Notre Dame 14 (Final, Jan. 3, 2007)

SI.com

This could easily be a trap game for LSU. It's near home, the Bengals will own the crowd and they're 8 1/2-point favorites. But it's hard to bet against that defense, even with Weis having more than a month to game plan for the blitz-heavy attack. The Tigers' faithful will be geauxing crazy on Bourbon Street. LSU by eight.
Why do they still talk about Weis having so much time to gameplan??? Has he ever come up with a brilliant plan for a big game!? :smash:

what are you talking about?? screens, short dump off passes to the tight end, and draws with the occasional jump ball to a receiver deep every game is genius!!

Holtz just said on ESPNEWS that he thinks ND will put up 24 on LSU tonight b/c they put up similar numbers against scUM and USC. Maybe ND will do so, but I'd imagine that at least 14 of those points will come in scrub time, which is when ND put up more than a few points against scUM and USC.

I can easily see ND getting upwards of 20 points on LSU. They do have offensive weapons, net a field goal in garbage time and 24 is achievable.

What Holtz cannot see is that LSU outweighs ND in every significant statistical category except one - turnover margin. If Holtz wanted to sound gifted, instead of "special" he should build his case from that starting point. He doesn't though, for he knows that case blows, as it appeals to a need for luck, field position and a Tommy Z pick taken back to the house.

This by the way is the funniest thing going on the Huddle. LSU fans giving their ever Irish hosts a call out. LSU vs ND
