Sugar Bowl - LSU 41, Notre Dame 14 (Final, Jan. 3, 2007)

I think it's time that ND is forced to join a conference if they want to continue appearing in BCS games. It's utterly ridiculous that they can skate by an entire season (again) without a quality win, subsequently getting that ND "+1 factor" from the pollsters, and finally landing a spot in a bowl in which they have no business playing.

Join a conference, or suffer the consequences. I'm sick of letting ND be a charity case.

You're right, its not fair that NoD doesn't have to win against a quality team during the season, but yet they still get a BCS bid. If NoD is in Indiana, put them in the big 10, so we can beat them every year over and over again.

I agree that the architecture is (and has been) silly where ND is concerned, but as we all know it's not based on objective analysis or ethical considerations, but marketing. Consequently, perhaps the economics of the situation will prompt a correction in the BCS agreement with ND. At the very least, if they continue to slide in to BCS games as an at-large pick and get dominated, I'd imagine at some point that the bowls would be more hesitant to select them. Unfortunately I suspect neither will occur anytime soon.

Then again, there may be a sufficient quantity of viewers who'll consistently tune in just to watch the Irish lose. Since there won't be an expeditious solution to the matter, I'll just count myself in the latter demographic for the time being. :)
