Sugar Bowl - LSU 41, Notre Dame 14 (Final, Jan. 3, 2007)

IMO, Brady Quinn is a damn good QB. Yes, I said it. Not the best in the country, but damn good. But like many (or most) good college QBs, he doesn't handle pressure well. And this defense is going to pressure him big. ND's OL is mediocre at best, they're not going to stop the blitzes. Darius Walker has not been effective running, so LSU will be pinning their ears back.

ND has no chance. No chance at all.

Hate to admit this, I'd like to see ND take the prize for longest bowl loss streak. It will make all those ND "History and Tradition" discussions so much more interesting, don't you think?

You still don't know what the hell you are talking about...

I spout off on message boards, and if ND does win I will be happy but I won't be acting as if ND is number one or anything.
you're going to argue that NA has the most fans of any team in the country....and then argue that the average NA fan isn't an ignorant homer moron? Sorry ace, but if you have the most fans, you have a higher likelihood that your average fan will be a dumbass.

they may have the most fans but yea most of them are pretty clueless. the majority of osu fans are the same way though unfortunately. problem with ND is they grow up liking ND solely because of NBC devoting their channel to them and rudy so its not like they are TRUE fans...more oh hey that looks like a cool story ill jump on their bandwagon.

PS: this obviously doesnt apply to ALL ND fans just a lot of them.

I never even brought up the "knowledge" of ND fans.:2004:

As far as CW and big games goes....

CW has been at ND just 2 years and has 1 recruting class that you can say is his. With that in mind he has lost 5 games with only 1 (MSU) being against a team that was less talented. Sure he has not won a "big game" but in each of those 4 "big game" defeats you could say that he did not have the "better/ more talented" team going it to those games.

But that's not what we heard from ND fans, players, coaches, and the media going in to every single one of those games. What about Brady Q, Jeff S, Tom Z? Each and every time it was the combination of amazing talent and unflappable coaching that would roll ND to another amazing victory.

I think we need to save chief's comments in bronze or something so in the near future when ND is still talking about the amazing CW and his phenomenal team we can look back and remember that at least one ND fan realized the talent just wasn't there.

Wow, I've seen some apologists for mediocrity before, but that's goddamn Leonardo Da Vinci right there. So every game is won on "talent" alone? Could have fooled me...I thought it was, I don't know, gameplan, practice prep, proper motivation...but in your world he had "less talent", therefore he was destined to lose? Good Lord.

Source: LSU players suspended for missing curfew

By Mark Schlabach

NEW ORLEANS -- LSU is expected to be without two of its key players and two backups for at least the first quarter of Wednesday night's game against No. 11 Notre Dame in the Allstate Sugar Bowl at the Louisiana Superdome.

Tigers coach Les Miles suspended starting strong safety Jessie Daniels, running back/kick returner Trindon Holliday and backup linebackers Perry Riley and Kelvin Sheppard for missing curfew this week in New Orleans, an LSU official familiar with the situation said Wednesday.

An LSU official said Miles hasn't determined the length of the suspensions -- whether they will cover the first quarter, first half or entire game -- and has afforded the players ways to shorten their suspensions.

"We did have some players who violated team rules and their playing time will be affected accordingly," said LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette, who declined to identify the suspended players or the nature of their violations. "The violations were very minor in nature, but in the framework of the team they were significant."

Daniels, a senior from Breaux Bridge, La., has started the last 34 games he has played for the No. 4 Tigers, including 11 this season. He is fifth on the team with 46 tackles. Daniels would be replaced in the starting lineup by junior Craig Steltz, who had 39 tackles and a team-high four interceptions.
Holliday, a freshman from Zachary, La., emerged as one of the country's most dynamic kick returners late in the season. He had a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter of LSU's 31-26 win at Arkansas on Nov. 24. Holliday averages 32.4 yards on five kickoff returns and has run 13 times for 161 yards and one touchdown.

Riley, a freshman from Ellenwood, Ga., is a backup outside linebacker who had four tackles in seven games. Sheppard, a freshman from Stone Mountain, Ga., isn't listed on the team's two-deep depth chart.

---------------------------------------------------------

To be honest, I havent seen much of LSU this season, but I know they are physical and dominant. Any idea about how much this "suspension" will hurt the teams play?

That's an excellent point. Basically he's saying that Notre Dame is worse than Boise St. I mean we all agree that Boise St. is lacking in the talent department right? And they have some rookie coach, certainly not on par with the great CW, and a bunch of tatted up sub par players who obviously don't imbibe the pious standards of ND. But Boise St wins it's big games.

So from now on ND will be known as lacking heart, drive, preparation, and any other number of unknown qualities which make it inferior to some WAC team from Idaho.

And not to dredge up bad memories, but to use one of the most obvious examples in history, if one looks at the disparity in talent between, I don't know, say 1998 Ohio State and 1998 Michigan State, it is frightening...yet...

We realize that ND always has the less talented team in big games. Just look at their last 10 bowl games. :slappy:

You bring up a good point, ND should have won several of those bowl games because they were the team with the most talent. See, I am not afraid to admit it works both ways...

But you're apparently afraid to admit that Weis has been mediocre so far in the results department...coaches win games with less "talent" regularly with effective gameplans and good gameday management...Weis just hasn't been able to beat anyone of any consequence yet, and he can't seem to manage his defense in big games to save his life.

If talent was the only key to winning, Cooper would have a handful of rings and still be our coach right now, and Tressel wouldn't have the record he currently has. Did OSU have more "talent" than Miami in 2002? Don't think so...we played the better game and had the better strategy. That's coaching.
