Stupid two point conversions (SimpLLLLLe Jim loves 'em, and so does James Franklin)

That was not stupid. That's the kind of call the coach of an inferior team playing an out-of-their-goddamned-minds game against a giant that happens to be their arch-rival makes. Ballsy and correct.

Yep. Like Boise vs Oklahoma. You know, where one of them KNOWS they are inferior and their best chance is to get it over with.

The call to go for 2 was the correct call, in my opinion. The play call was pure Hoke, though. You've got a quarterback who has been scrambling around and finding open guys on his own all game, screen passes have been wide open, and you're going to try a play where the QB and WR need to be timed just right? And you're counting on a defender playing off the ball by 5+ yards, when the LOS is the 3 yard line? It was almost as dumb as if he had tried to punt, or run the ball up the middle. He should have tried some pass-back to the tight end or fullback, or some quick screen to a wide receiver. Open all day long.

Maybe someone here has experience as a head coach. I have zero experience as a head coach. But this next point seems strange to me. It was reported that Hoke asked his players what they wanted to do (go for 1 or 2). He was leaning toward 2, but he wanted their opinion. Why? Shouldn't the head coach make that decision and stand by it, right or wrong? Was he looking for someone to pass the blame to, or is this something that "good" coaches really do?
