Stupid two point conversions (SimpLLLLLe Jim loves 'em, and so does James Franklin)

And what do you know, Coastal scores another TD less than 4 minutes later. Guess what happens next? Yep, they go for two again and fail.

So had they just kicked the XP each time they would lead by three with over 14 minutes to play. Instead, they lead by only 1 point. The announcer was eerily silent on the intelligence of going for two this time. He couldn't point out the FAIL because he endorsed it minutes earlier.

Will someone please tear "the card" into a million pieces? It's simple: don't go for two until you have to go for two. Never in the first half and rarely in the third quarter - I'm talking a double digit deficit desperation move. In short, almost never prior to the 4th quarter.

So NDSU scores with 9 minutes left to make it 37-32 and you know what happened next. They went for 2 and got it. In this case it was the right decision - going up 6 with under 10 minutes to play is just asking to lose by 1.

But what was totally lost on the announcers was this: had Coastal just kicked 2 XPs, NDSU would've also kicked because it would've been 37-34 and the XP puts them up 4 points. So in the end, the stupid decision to go for two too early has now cost Coastal the equivalent of a field goal. Instead of 38-34, it's 39-32.

Good job, coach.

Missouri scores to go up 19-14 on Minnesota early in the 3rd quarter. Pinkel decides to go for two. Fails. Far too much time left to give away a point by chasing one you never lost in the first place.

I have Missouri/1 & Minnesota/7 in a pool so would have won $100 if Missouri converted there.

Therefore, not a stupid 2-pt conversion attempt.

Dook botched an XP in the 2nd quarter vs Georgia Tech so led only 13-3 instead of 14-3. No big deal, until they score another touchdown in the first quarter and proceed to chase the missed point by going for two. They failed.

Tech scored before halftime and wisely kicked - it's the first half, after all - cutting the deficit to 9 at halftime. Had Tech gone for 2 at that point to attempt to make it a one-score game this would've also been stupid. There's practically no reason to go for two in the first half.

Actually dook just fucked up the hold on the 2nd xp try. Didn't go for two or try a fake. Really was surprised johnson didn't go for 2 as he usually will in those situations.

Wait...they fucked up TWO extra point tries? That's almost worse than a stupid two point try.

Cal and Okie State both went for two when trailing 28-26 in the 3rd quarter today - both failed, but prevailed in the end in spite of themselves.

Florida missed an early XP so when they scored a TD in the SECOND quarter they went for two. Chasing the point failed, so their lead is 19-0.
