f--- that. i still call it the Citrus Bowl. there are the big four, then the Cotton, then the Citrus. Capital One are cocksuckers for renaming it. they should have called it the Citrus Bowl presented/sponsored by Capital One... but these johnny come latelies have no sense of tradition.

i know it's messed up, but i have a secret desire to go back there and kick some SEC tail... (thanks, Coop. you've warped my brain.)

lv, if you want tradition, call it the Tangerine Bowl. It was called that almost twice as long as the Citrus Bowl, from 1947-1982.

As a kid, I went to a Tangerine Bowl.

Spurrier's latest gem:

"We all know that USC hasn't beaten Clemson twice in a row in over 30 years or something like that. We're going to try to make history this year. But I'm really worried that it might not happen. With all the time my players have spent in prison issue, orange jump suits, I'm afraid they might get confused as to what team they are on."

That is good....

In a conference call on Sunday, Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier revealed his vote - and took a shot at Tressel.
"I can honestly say I voted them (LSU) No. 1," Spurrier said. "I'm not pulling a Jim Tressel - y'all can check it out."
Spurrier claiming to hold some sort of moral high ground over Jim Tressel is like bin Ladin claiming to be collecting for the Hebrew Youth Fund.

fair enough, but at least Citrus is along the same lines as Tangerine... you don't see them renaming the Holiday Bowl the Met Life Bowl. we get it. basically, my attitude towards Capital One is "you sponsor the freaking bowl game. we get it. there's no need to change the name."

A SHOT AT TRESSEL: Remember a year ago when Jim Tressel said he voted upcoming opponent Texas No. 1 in the coaches poll, only to have the people at USA Today reveal that wasn't true?
Tressel chalked it up to a miscommunication with another staffer.
South Carolina is playing No. 2 LSU this week. In a conference call on Sunday, Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier revealed his vote - and took a shot at Tressel.
"I can honestly say I voted them (LSU) No. 1," Spurrier said. "I'm not pulling a Jim Tressel - y'all can check it out."

It would be sweeter than honey for Tressel to get back at him some time in the future. I can see it clearly:

Reporter: "Jim, with all the success that you've had at the collegiate level, have you considered taking a shot at the Pro game?"

Jim Tressel: "No, I haven't. I wouldn't want to pull a Steve Spurrier."
