The title is pretty misleading.

Spurrier.jpg

“Well I like the other conferences, too. Heck, those guys deserve the chance to go play just like the big conferences,” Spurrier said. “The SEC – we’ve got some down the line teams just like every conference has down the line teams. The big five conferences all playing each other, I don’t think that makes a lot of sense really. Playing East Carolina is a lot tougher game than maybe picking up one of those bottom Big Ten teams. Plus the fans around here, we’d rather see a team from close by.”

So some early season OOC for These vaunted SEC teams includes: Sam Houston St., Tenn.-Martin, Nicholls St., Lamar....Oh my....

Yes but the top 3 teams in the Big 10(OSU, MSU and Wisky) have such a vaunted OOC of Kent St, Navy(don't give me the Bs about the triple option either, they're schedule was a joke to get them to 9wins last year and 8 the year before), E. Mich, W. Illinois, Jacksonville St and Bowling Green... All the major schools are and have done the same weak/joke scheduling. Let's not throw stones
South Carolina preferring to play East Carolina instead of Illinois is no different than OSU preferring to play Kent St or MSU preferring to play Eastern Mich rather than Duke or Texas Tech.

I was there for VTech @ ECU...the Pirates are building something nice in a few sports. I really enjoyed the campus and stadium experience. The ECU offense is a good show with some good talent...Carden reminds me of Phillip Rivers with the unorthodox motion and Justin Hardy is legit at WR.

Not saying we aren't guilty of similar scheduling. If I recall the MAC teams being scheduled by the BIG were part of an agreement between the conferences to help increase the MAC exposure.

I also saw one of the SEC powers had EMU as well. In this case, I was merely pointing out the ridiculous nature of the comments. To me it is the old ball coach who is living in the glass house when it comes to this foolishness. Of course who would expect anything less from Steve-o.

Spurrier's act that once made him look witty and silly now just makes him sound like a bat[Mark May] crazy old man.

I honestly think thats part of the Act...

@buckeyebri , I didn't see the OBC as Throwing stones, as he also stated that the SEC had "down the line" teams just like any other conference. He knows that schools like Vandy, UK and Tenn aren't on the same level as Auburn, Alabama, SC, LSU. Most of the time, the weak OOC schools are playing the big boys due to distance and money, I.e. Miami playing FAMU or Bethune Cookman, aTM(or UT)playing Rice, Sam Houston St or SMU, OSU playing Miami(Oh), OU or BG, it's all relative.

To be fair, there is no comparison between the schools you mentioned and what @buckeyebri said. You're noting teams like Navy who went 9-4 and BGSU who is picked to win the MAC against FCS and DII schools.

No one, and I mean no one, schedules more laughable non FBS games than the SEC.
