Star Wars (May the Force be with you)

As a whole I enjoyed TLJ, but here are a few issues I can't get my mind off of. I loved the eat shit tweet.

1. How do a handful of Resistance ships outrun a fleet of star destroyers at sub light speed? Sure they are lighter and faster, but the SD have working light speed. jump a couple ships out in front and trap them.
2. I don't understand why they didn't reshoot some scenes to kill off Leia. Not only did they have the perfect opportunity, but now they gave her force powers and made her that much harder to kill. How do they open the next movie? Getting blown out into space took too much out of her and she died? IMO let her die and find a new leader out of the 5 characters that survived the movie.
2b. Side thought now that they have to write off Leia do they make Billie Lourd her secret daughter and play it off like she was Padme always pretending to be someone else? She's been lurking the fray both movies now with those Leia hair buns. Probably not since I have the feeling they want to end the Skywalker story in episode 9, but that would be a way to replace Leia
2c. I hope the original plan for Leia comes out at some point down the road. My guess is she was either the light side of the force version of Palpatine or she went to the dark side at some point after Ben turned and was going to be the new Sith lord after she had Ren kill Snoke.
3. It will be interesting to see if force sensitive people start coming from all over to join the new rebellion. Not noble like the Jedi or evil like the Sith, but a shade of grey like the real world. Who knows maybe DJ was one of them that's why he could be a star wars hacker. Wouldn't be surprised to see him pop back up as less of a shitbag in the next movie. Prequels being what they are one of the tidbits they dropped was the Jedi were getting rid of force sensitive kids that weren't cut out to be Jedi. They haven't been doing that for a couple generations so there should be a bunch of force sensitive people out there that could give us some some wicked battles in future movies. I think Vader was also in the force killing business so most of them would be Ren's age or younger.

That's all I have time for now.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

dims

The actor on the left is actually Daniel Craig.

Now Craig has finally revealed the story behind how he bagged the part, on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

He deadpanned: “I slept with JJ Abrams.”......:slappy:

Just saw it last night and honestly...I loved it for the most part. There were definitely moments I could have done without but I thought the acting was terrific and frankly, there were so many epic scenes that should be iconic for the franchise. For my specific thoughts:

First, the good...I really, really like Kylo Ren...I thought the development of his character and his relationship with Rey sets up for an incredible showdown. Her character advancement was very interesting as well. The battle scene where they kill Snoke was incredible. Second, Luke's scenes were most spectacular...I loved the twists they put in with his character. However, the ending they gave him was incredibly disappointing, although it did follow the general disappearing Jedi finish that many of his predecessors had. Also, I thought Leia's role was pretty great, although I could have dealt without them almost being out of fuel for 3/4's of the movie. Finally, the final scene with Luke, Kylo and the escape was really well done overall.

The bad? Well, Fin going right at the canon and surviving with the Poe save...then Poe kissing him and falling aside like an 80's teen drama...then him being there with her exactly like Rey was with him in the Force Awakens. Tacky. Then the little "Happy Feet" looking friends that Chewy makes...I hope the kids like that shit, because it looked way out of place in a Star Wars film. Finally, the female character on board with Leia that takes out the destroyer towards the end...she was basically unbearable, I could barely watch her. She went out the right way, but she added nothing else to the movie.

But like I said initially, I thought the movie was awesome overall and I probably will see it one more time in theaters.

I think you were mixing up the names of Poe, who is the pilot from episode 7, and Rose Tico the new 'space mechanic' from episode 8 that Finn takes along with him on his journey/mission.

Just as a point of order, the porgs are based on the north Atlantic puffin..

Here at BP we learned everything we need to know about them in this thread:
