Well we already know that Luke and Leia are Vader's kids. and I'm pretty sure Vader ain't making babies after Obi Wan burned off his Johnson. and since Palpatine died, and Awakens takes place 30 years later, Rey doesn't look like she's in her 30's. So I'm guessing no.
The obvious choice is that Rey is Luke's daughter, and Kylo's cousin. The shot of her on Jakku in her dream watching a spaceship leave her behind has to be Luke hiding her there maybe after Kylo turned to the dark side. How Ankar Plutt fits into that, I don't know. It was obviously Plutts hand that was holding Reys hand in that scene.
Jesus I am a nerd.
Why do all the characters have to be related in some way? Can't characters be awesome/powerful and unrelated in the galaxy? I think they're taking the "Luke, I am your father" thing a bit too far. I get it, it was a defining moment in pop culture for a generation- not all new characters have to be in the same family.

Because it isn't a story about a bunch of random unrelated people, the overarching story is about the Skywalker legacy/family line taking place in a grand universe amidst constant war. Thus, the major characters are Skywalkers and related to each other. Han was the main unrelated character in the original trilogy, Obi-Wan in the prequels, and now Finn fills that role in this trilogy.
I get it in the series films, but I'd prefer these to be one offs that don't drive that main story. (But they did take that too far in episodes 1-3, like why the fuck is r2 here?)

For the record I read his post as responding to Mike's mention that jyn might be reys mom. And I'll just say to that, no thanks.
