Star Wars (May the Force be with you)

Is everything canon after Jedi what they said did not exist anymore? If so, there were a few good Kenobi books written about his time in isolation on Tattooine. Many adventures trying to find other surviving Jedi and such. Would make for some good standalone films, I'm sure.

The canon is the 7 films and clone wars. The end.

What used to be considered the Expanded Universe, is now known as Star Wars Legends. All of it was scrapped except for the films and the Clone Wars tv series. Everything that has come out post-April 2014, is also canon. This includes Star Wars Rebels and the books and comics. This doesn't mean you will never see anything from the EU as the new writers may borrow characters and story lines from it, but they can be completely recast.

One of the big rumors that has a lot of the old EU fans excited is that Grand Admiral Thrawn will be introduced in season three of Rebels.

Had to bust this out on someone on a different message board who was trying to argue about when this movie was taking place. I explained what the plot was and he says "oh, thanks for spoiling it for me." Bitch, did you watch the GD trailer? It says what the plot is during the dam thing. He says, "Rebels didn't steal the plans for the Death Star, the Bothans did." Bitch, do you even Star Wars? The Bothans stole the GD plans for the second Death Star. Man, this dude.......talking shit like he knew something. I still can't believe he said that shit about spoiling the movie.

Finally rewatched TFA.

It confirmed my initial impressions: fun, definitely good but not great (which after the last 3 is very acceptable). The foundation is superb for future films (another welcome change from the prequels).

Due to time constraints, I spread it out over multiple days. The first 2/3 of the movie are not derivative at all. There are a few references but it is fresh. The final part is a bit too similar but it's also a rehabilitation of the genre and a stepping stone so I'm okay with it.

I really liked the humanity and depth of the characters. The mask could have lasted longer to preserve some mystique but it also connected you with the character. Dark Mullet's mask removal in ROTJ always felt a bit odd. Not that it didn't work but that face seemed like a strange extra character thrown in.

I think the movie was a success for the franchise but I don't think I will watch it as often over the years as some legendary series or films
