I really liked the humanity and depth of the characters. The mask could have lasted longer to preserve some mystique but it also connected you with the character.
Yeah, I mean, I think that was intentional (to go back and forth) because he does seem to be struggling with his heritage and humanity. (And as Solo points out, he doesn't really need it, as in Lord Helmet's case, to keep him alive, but, a couple more smacks in the face with Rey's lightsaber, and that might change.)
