Star Wars (May the Force be with you)

buckeyegrad: "By chance are you a follower of Gonk?"

I had no idea that he had a name. I knew him as 'Power Droid' from the old Kenner toys.

I did hear that all those old toys with no real names, i.e. Hammerhead, Walrus Man, Squid Head, etc. were given names as the years went by, but I never kept up with it.

If there is a secondary SW character that I do pledge allegiance to, it would have to be Snaggletooth.

I think it was only known as 'Power Droid', the fans simply called him Gonk because that was the noice it makes in the Jawa's transport.

Personally, my favorite secondary character in Star Wars has always been Dengar. He looks as though he could tell some interesting stories as a bounty hunter.

Never a big fan of Dengar or IG-88. Always liked Bossk better.

I like Snaggletooth, because for years (before Star Wars Widescreen was available) whenever you'd see the movie on TV, 'Tooth's parts were completely cut out of the movie (he's always on the side of the shot). So I'd always make a concerted effort to look for him in the movie (never could find him).

The last toy that can't be found in the movies is Amanaman. He's supposedly in Jabba's Palace but I haven't spotted him to this day.

You never cease to amaze me, my friend. Have some props, on me.

Thing with Amanaman... is you expect him to look more like a walking Microwave than a wormy thing with arms.

In what particular shots should I be looking for Amanaman in 'Jedi'? I gotta take a look when I go home.

BTW, did anyone notice the Millenium Falcon in 'Revenge of the Sith?' I know where it appears, but I keep missing it.

Squid Head: Dunno this one offhand.
He was given a name, but I long forgot it. I'm pretty sure its listed in Tales from Jabbas Palace, which I haven't read in a long time. I can tell you his species is Quarren and they live on the same planet as the Mon Calamari (i.e. Admiral Akbar from Return of the Jedi), but that is it.

Some of my other favorite minor characters:

Nien Numb (aka Numb Nuts by the cast). He's the alien flying the Falcon with Lando during the attack on Death Star II.

Then there is the six breasted lady in Jabba's Palace :sick1: :

And let us not forget, the Mighty Chewbacca's father, "Itchy" from the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special:

This is no joke. Probably one of the worst television ideas of all time....of course it does have one redeeming value, it was the first time Boba Fett was introduced as a character.

That's in Jabba's Palace like you mentioned... He's actually in a couple shots... including one of him looking at Solo Frozen in Carbonite... I think he's a pot head... Anyway... he's smoking in a at least one of his scenes.

I've got to put Akbar on my list of favorites as well. Maybe the best voice of any SW character too: "We have no choice, General Calrissian. Our cruises can't repel firepower of that magnitude."

"Nien Numb (aka Numb Nuts by the cast). He's the alien flying the Falcon with Lando during the attack on Death Star II."

Great call. (Notice how most of the characters we refer to were Kenner send-away action figures, in exchange for 3 proofs of purchase). A friend of my Uncles saw Return of the Jedi on some country in the Orient. He said that in the dubbed version, Niem speaks English and says weird crap that has nothing to do with anything like, "I don't have a microwave," and "Oooh, that's a biggie."

"And let us not forget, the Mighty Chewbacca's father, "Itchy" from the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special:"

Chewbacca's son was named "Lumpy" and his wife was named "Mala." We haven't focused too much on the Holiday Special on this thread. I want it done.

Are you sure about this? I need to re-examine.

Here's a picture of Chewie's whole family:

I've never seen the Holiday Special, but I have heard it was a disaster worse than Jar Jar Binks. One story I read said there is at least 10 minutes of Wookie-only interaction without sub-titles. Just four people on stage grunting and howling with each other...... I think the Wookies were celebrating Life Day if I remember correctly.

I have no idea what is going on in this picture:

Like I said, the show did have one redeeming value, the introduction of Boba Fett:

Oh, and brother and sister had a duet to sing:

A touching moment between Harrison Ford and his Wookie:

And HOLY CRAP!!!! Thump finally has a reason to like Star Wars, his beloved Bea was in it.....

Its pretty dark around the edges of those shots... but I think the one its in is when they cut to solo the time when Jabba responds to Leia "why would I want to part with my favorite decoration.. AHAHAHAHHAH" while she's holding the thermal detonator... but it might be a bit later...

The Holiday Special is the worst thing you will ever watch. It is IMPOSSIBLE to sit through it for two hours. The Boba Fett cartoon is the only redeeming quality, and its only 5 minutes long.

Yes. There are many scenes with just Wookie howls.

Celebrity guest appearences are Art Carney (who's a human on Kashykk, a friend of the Chewbacca Family), Harvey Corman (who plays the most ridiculous aliens), and Bea Arthur (who plays the bartender in the Creature Cantina & sings a 'Last Call - Closing Time' song to the aliens at the bar). And that's probably not the worst thing about the Special.

All the cast of Star Wars appears, and they're wearing eye-liner, blush, and caked on make-up (not very appealing on Mark Hamill). And Carrie Fisher sings a Life-Day Carol.

Really not the high point for any of these actors.
