Spring Football - 2005 (mega-merge)

i think the best thing about this spring is that there is enough depth at most positions to field 2 really great teams.

there are ten good OL that will allow for 2 solid offensive line units. last year we had a couple of walk-ons starting due to lack of depth.

same can be said with the DL.

great qb competition and rb competition as well as a series of guys fighting to get a chance to man the corner spot.
hopefully some snipets of practice will get out.

His name doesn't get mentioned a lot, but I've heard Curt Lukens has made the move to defensive back. Spring practice would be the perfect time to shine and impress a few coaches. I don't know if he'll be the surprise this year, given all the young, close-to-breaking-out talent we have right now, but keep him in mind.

without a doubt i'll be most interested in the other CB position, since this is the biggest question/mystery on the squad..........i think everything else will take care of itself, the QB, RB, OL, and DE situations, but this one will be the most interesting

speaking of which, is Jamario coming early, and who are the freshmen that are reporting early this year, if any?

I saw somewhere else online that Jamario might still have some grade isuues, is that old? If not any insight from an insider would be greatly appreciated.

i believe in a chat session mark rea of rivals said that both lenix and o'neal had what was needed to get through clearinghouse, but osu admissions is another story, which nobody seems to know. i'm willing to bet they both get in.

D-line. In my opinion, the biggest drop-off we had from '03 to '04 was on the D-line. For that matter, we basically had a dominating D-line from '01 to '03 - for all the other focal points over the past couple of years, the D-line which dominated virtually every game for three years (only real exception which comes to mind is '03 at Michigan, and we all remember that result) was the engine house. A lot of interesting spots to look for in spring ball this year, but if we're going to have the season we hope for, several guys at DT and DE are going to have to make the move from high-potential to actual owners of the line of scrimmage.

that statement couldn't be any truer...........i have confidence in our DL this year, maybe optimism is a better term...........i think (hope) Kudla and Pitcock are both going to have big years, Patterson/Green are both very solid, and i'm just waiting for Patterson to emerge as a true force...........i think the other DE spot will take care of itself because there is so much competition there........may be a bit of a weak link, but i think it'll be sufficient<!-- / message -->

nobody coming in early outside of cordle. i dont know if brandon underwood will be involved in spring practice or if he will be sitting at a desk studying on the sidelines.

but i agree with the cb battle. between holmes, gonzo, ginn, lyons (if healthy), and jordan, there will be plenty of talented wr's that need to be covered, so every cb out there is going to have a good measuring test.
