Spring Football - 2005 (mega-merge)

Thank You Too !

Just wanted to thank everyone for the interest and the PM's of support and thank you's. I think this is gonna be a blast. Several of us will be there early and we'll try to make it easy to find. Just look for all the people wearing BP tshirts. Green Chicklets for everyone!
Anyway, looking forward to meeting everyone and I will be sending out another mass PM to everyone on the list on page one of this thread with all the details, probably about two weeks before the game. So if you aren't on it, get on it asap.

I am heading out tomorrow (3/17) for the Bahamas and won't be back until the 27th. So I won't be updating the list until then. You can still PM your name if you'll be there but it won't be on the list till that Sunday or Monday.

Spring Practice

Begins in 9 Days and 19 hours.

What is everybody looking for? What things would you like to see and what would you not like to see?

What players does everyone think will step up.

-I am looking for some kind of seperation in the qb's so we will have a clear cut #1.

-Also looking for Haw and Pittman to have a great spring and really show us that we can have a running game.

-looking for Roy Hall to excell as a te.

-Some more ted ginn excitement, and a little work on d.

-Someone to step up at the other corner.

-some hard hitting

-Jay Rich to step up and take that other end spot.

-The o-line to really gel and work together

-Absolutely no injuries.

My players who will step it up:

E. Haw
Jay Rich
D'Animal(if he is able to go)
Whitner at the other corner
T.J. Downing will continue what he started at the end of last year.
Troy Smith
Joel Penton(my sleeper, It seemed at times last year that he was getting a good amount of playing time) he is the type of kid that will give it all he has.

Also hope that Kudla, o-line, Wrs, Safties, and Lbs, can all live up to the hype we are giving them.

Quite honestly, while all of those positions are fun to watch and follow (and play), I am VERY interested in the P and K races... seeing who emerges as the Punter, and if Huston (he hasn't yet has he?) gets his 6th year and if he can stay even half as consitant as Nuge.

Even though we *should* have a better Offense, if you have learned anything since JT has come here, it is that those two positions are EXTREMELY important. I think they could be our biggest holes going into this year, especially the punters...

Oh yeah, and Haw :)

I was very concerned about the K duties towards the end of last year, especially after the rough stretch with the 3-game losing streak. Looking at 2002, the team can't win at "Tresselball" if the kicker is a question mark. Heck, poor kicking in 2001 directly cost the team, I think, 2 wins.

However, I'm not concerned about Huston now. At least, not as much as I was. 1) Huston had his Freshman baptism-by-fire just like Nuge, 2) Nuge has repeatedly said that Huston is as good in practice, and could have been an All-American, 3) Huston's appearance in the Alamo Bowl - the one kickoff he got he boomed out of the back of the end zone for a touchback, just like Nuge.

I wanna know who'll be calling the defensive signals, and being that my bro goes to beechcroft I wanna know how Sirjo Welch is doing and if he will be in the thick of things this season, my bro says that Welch mentioned playing some corner instead of saftey, he was a monster on sp. teams.
I think that he might get a look at a few positins on D this year weather it be corner, safety, or nickle.
I also wanna hear something good on the youngsters of last year, such as Nader, Vernon Gohlston, Nick Patterson, Kyle Mitchum, and Chad Hoobler etc.
