Spring Football - 2005 (mega-merge)

Restating a few ideas for the spring game...

TShirt:
Most of you know about this already, but I thought I'd restate the obvious. We're getting a BP Shirt made (details here), and hoping to have it done in time to distribute it to many of you at the spring game. It will be a great way to advertise bp's website.

Laptop
:
While we are going to steer clear of the dvd idea for copyright issues, we still will probably have a laptop with some key threads/pages downloaded so we can show people what BP is like that way, unless someone had a wireless connection that would work and not be expensive... some of you regulars might know more about this than myself.

Banner:
It's a go! We will have a banner hanging above our tailgater at the spring game. I will start brainstorming a design for this. Another poster on this thread has a means of printing it so we should be all set.

Handout?:
Not sure what you guys think of this, but it might be cool to have some sort of physical means of helping people to remember buckeyeplanet.com so they can check in when they reach home. Since we're gonna put our efforts into the other projects, this will probably just be a generic black and white handout.

05 Schedule Poster:
Jim Davidson has been very cool and is willing to let me hand out copies of the 05 schedule poster I made (can't hand out anything that includes returning players, ie dvd cover). Obviously I cannot sell it, but if you guys could make a donation to BP (we'll have a jar set up for donations) that would be awesome.

Please share any other ideas you guys have for what we can do at this tailgater. Let us know if you are planning to bring food/grilles, TVs, etc. This is gonna be tight.

as far as the handout is concerned, why not just do a screen print of the front page and have it printed on high quality paper at a place like kinkos? That seems like to most cost effective and professional way appearance wise. Again just throwing my .02 cents around

Thats what we want. Everyone to throw there .02 cents in. This tailgate/fundraiser is everyones here at BP. So if you have an idea to make it better.... please throw them at us.

The banner is at this time OK'ed. So look for that when you get there. I still need to get confirmation from some guys that can get there early with me to get things set up.

Okay... since the banner is a go I need to know how everyone thinks it should be done. The plotter I have prints on a 36'' wide spool that is 150 yards long (we can adjust the length). However I am worried about the weather (rain, drizzle, ect.) and I think that if we laminate the banner it would be too stiff and to glossy to read. So what are everyones ideas on how to handle the banner. As soon as BFS gets back to me with the design I'm gonna go ahead and print it of and store it in a tube that I have at home for artwork.

I'll definitely be there early, tho the 6 AM time some crazy man mentioned earlier isnt' happening :) I can probably be there by like 7:30ish... when does the game typically start?

Agreed, do not feel shy about throwing out suggestions or even prototype designs for the banner, handout, etc. Some of us have been more visible on this project, but just like everything else on BP, that means we are the latest to contribute and by no means the best. This site has had many elite contributors who were either replaced or complemented by others helping them to contribute in similar areas... this thread should be no exception.

noon or 1:00pm will be start time. Crazy or not, I will tell you that if the earliest we show up for this is 9 we will be searching for a place at the Woody Hayes center.

I think this is a great idea. Its the best shot as far as passing out something with info on BP. I've seen so many clubs/organizations, heck, even churches that pass out posters containing the Buckeye's schedule and the fan's will pick 'em up and keep them on a wall somewhere. Its also not risque as far as breaking any rules, and can be produced fairly cheaply (whether it be at kinko's, printforless.com or my dad's color laser).

What does Jim Davisdon have to do with YOU making a poster? Are you planning on using his game pics for it?
I meant that I could not distribute copies of most of my work, like 'Ginn & Tonic' or the DVD cover of The Game 04. He would allow me to do so as long as it did not include players which will play football next fall (amateurs), which those works do have. The 05 calendar features the buckeye hands, which is one of his better photographs that I played with in photoshop. That's ultimately why Jim Davidson is related to the calendar distribution. Also, I think the generic block O will not receive much flak in terms of copyrights, in contrast to the full Ohio State logo.

Sweet!! I'm glad Clarity is all for it, this will be a blast. Again GoSt8 if you want someone to be there at 6am, my cousin and I have no problem saving up a group of parking spaces.
Got you down... thanks for the help.

The list is getting bigger, not even March yet. If you are planning on being there, once again please let me know as early as you can. I know it is 2 months away....

Also don't forget to get your t-shirt order in as early as possible too.

Don't put me down as a "yes" yet, but I wll most likely be at the Spring Game again, and if so I'm definitely down for some boozin beforehand.

Awesome idea on the shirts too. I will get back to ya.

If you need any ideas for a handout, we can probably come up with some good ideas. Anything from a business card size up to full page would work.

I think we should have a BP tailgate at the spring game. That way we could meet some of the people we talk to everyday. I am usually there by 6:00, beer in hand by 6:01, grills fired up by 6:30. It would definately be a blast if we could get 10 or 12 guys there earlier to get some space and everyone else could come by whenever they wanted. We could give general directions to where we would set up and maybe put a huge BP banner or flag up so everyone knows where to go. We could hand out those little "hello my name is... Gost8 (Chris)" stickers. lol:osu4:

I want to find out if Clarity is cool with this. After all BP is his. If you think you might be interested drop me a PM and I will add your name to a list and as the time gets closer I'll get back to you and give everyone else the details too.

Heck, who knows... if it goes over well we could meet up for games in the fall as well.

This is who I have down as of 9:30 pm (21 Feb 2005)

Yes great Idea. I haven't missed one since Tressel has been here and I'm not missing this one. I'll have plenty of beer as well.

Please Read...

Posted on Spring Game and T Shirt threads for max exposure...

OK guys I have gotten a lot of PM on where to set up. I have been there every year for the last 10 or so years and have always parked in the French Field House parking lot (Stadium side) Great place to tailgate, but not a lot of passersby to sell shirts and stuff. I mentioned the Fawcett Center only because I usually park there or in the Woody Hayes Center for regular games. Tons of people and if you get there early enough to get a primo spot, all of them will walk right past you to get to the Stadium. That being said, I have never parked there for a Spring Game and don't know how packed it gets not being a sold out event. This is where I need to here from anybody that has parked there before. Also, one thing I think we are gonna have to clear up is that tOSU/Columbus has a STRICT policy on selling things on gamedays. A vending license is a must if people are going to make selling these shirts a high profile thing. It would suck to make all kinds of money for the site, only to have to use it to pay off court costs and fines. I have a few guys that have generously volunteered to help me take up some space early in the morning, so we can go pretty much where ever we want.
Please respond with ideas, suggestions, thoughts, etc....
