Sports 'journalists' (Who Don't Work For ESPN)

I imagine Delaney is frothy at the thought of the new B1G contracts coming up. After adding millions of cable subscribers, it's going to be insane.

I remember reading somewhere that since all B1G teams get an even split, NW will make more tv money a year than Bama or Texas.

After the new deals are signed, B1G bottom feeders better step the fuck up. Before the ink dries.

I believe I read somewhere that Northwestern's labor union agreement requires that both offensive and defensive players are not allowed to play more than three consecutive first downs without taking the rest of the quarter off.

From a article earlier this year, apparently each University* made about $27mil this year off tv contracts for sports**, and the conference is projecting that number will rise by about $3mil/yr until the 2016/17 when it levels out at $35mil (Nebraska gets their full share starting in 2016, soaking up most of the growth that year). And for the 2017/18 season, the first year of a projected new contract, they expect that number to go all the way up to $44mil.
For comparison, according to ESPN the SEC brought in an average of $14.6 million/school last year. That should get a bump from SECN, and ESPN mentions that SEC is trying to get a little bump for adding Aggy and Mizzou.. but I doubt it's anywhere close to B1G money.
Now we just need schools to actually invest said money into their programs... =/

*except Nebraska, Rutgers, and Maryland. There is some kind of agreement that new schools wait 6 years before earning a full share.
**basketball contract w/CBS wasn't included in previous post

The B1G needs to sign a first tier deal with Fox.
Fox Sports might not be the Juggernaut that the Mouse is, but broadcasting World Series and Super Bowls is pretty huge.

Not to mention the fact that Fox is OTA, and not cable/sattlelite.

Fuck Disney. The more conferences ditch that bullshit network the better. Relegate them from 'Worldwide Leader' status to regional southeast and Mac status.

Vote with your dollars.

As much as I hate ESPN, watching 4hr games on Fox with a commercial every 30 seconds is painful too =/
Besides most of these games would be on FS1 etc. They already have more CFB content than will fit on their syndicated channel.
Plus it seems like the PAC was able to get a huge deal by negotiating both ESPN and Fox.
And finally... it'd let me get content regularly from Eddie, Spielman, and Smith.

The idea of yanking first-tier games from ESPN because of a bunch of fans' unreasonable hatred of the network is the kind of cut-off-your-own-nose spiteful stupidity I most associate with Penn State fans.

Get real here.

Yanking? The deal is expiring on its own and new negotiations.
If ESPN offers silly money, obviously take it. No reason to not shop around though.

during 2nd half of LSU/Bama game, LSU runs QB sneak on 4th and 1.

in full view of camera (an uncalled by ref), bama player tugs Jennings facemask hard enough to rip it off it's lower supports.

Gary Danielson ignores what he sees and says "his facemask fell off during the play"
He then said Jennings might be faking an injury in order to get it replaced quickly.
