Our OL is not very fast, but is quick and strong. This may hurt us if we ask them to block for us 30 yards downfield, a la Orlando Pace versus Iowa. I guess we'll have to make do. :(
'95. i was there. what a game! 56-0 with ten minutes to go.... UNTIL HALFTIME!!!

Corso said we don't have SEC speed? Good. When is the last time that dumbass has been right when talking about OSU? Let him talk about how OSU doesn't have enough speed to stick with Florida. Hopefully it'll turn out like his last 2 genius predictions about the Bucks.

Corso is a disgrace to the Italian nation. What a drunken fuckstick. Remember the Iowa game, when he proclaimed that the "Buckeyes" would win, yet put on that horrific Hawkeye headgear? He couldn't keep either of his "Eyes" straight that night. Dumbass.

I just heard a "Ohio State doesnt have SEC speed at all their positions" from Lee Corso. And so it starts...
Actually Herbie said this, or said this also, .
I watched espn and saw him several times that Fla has the speed on defense to defend us well.
Their D has to win the game, their offense is their problem.
So don't bash corso for telling the truth unless you want to bash Herbie too.
We are still going to kick some Fla butt.

Well if all these "experts" think its going to come down to the speed issue, then its a tie.....It will have to come down to special teams...Ted Ginn and Gonzo on returns (we win)....and kicking...wow..Florida's kicker can't even kick extra points....everytime Meyer puts his kicker on the field he turns his head because he can't even watch

That speed crap is really overdone. There's very little difference in speed between OSU and UF. If anything, you guys have more speed. Our secondary minus Reggie Nelson is slow as molasses, which makes me worry quite a bit about Ted Ginn. I don't think we have a player as fast as Ginn is, certainly not in our secondary at least. We have a bunch of really fast guys, particularly at the WR position, but most of our speed comes from young players, most of whom probably won't play much in the NC game. Our two starting corners run in the 4.5-4.6 range, Nelson is a freak 4.3 running FS, but our SS has only adequate speed. Our linebackers have a freakishly athletic guy in Earl Everette, but Siler and Crum are not speed demons by any means. Our DEs, especiallly #94 Jarvis Moss, are extremely athletic, and one of our tackles is pretty athletic for his size(Joe Cohen ran a 4.5 @235 lbs coming out of HS, much slower now of course at 290+, but still athletic), and our other tackles aren't quite Miami-esque(not like it did them much good in 02).

So basically, I think our speed on defense isn't anything you haven't seen before, so you'll get your points. The only way we can make up that difference is on our offensive side. Our top 2 RBs(Wynn and Moore) are some of the slowest RBs we've ever had, and neither has any sort of jukes, they can't put on a move without stumbling. That's why we're starting to use Percy Harvin a lot more as our RB. We have a great deal of speed at the WR position. We basically have 5 WRs we use a lot, Baker, Caldwell, Cornelius, Harvin, and Ingram. Baker and Ingram are big guys, Baker is more of a pure pass-catcher, while Ingram is strong and more of a YAC type of guy, neither is a burner. Cornelius, Caldwell, and Harvin are all legit 4.3 guys, with Cornelius and Caldwell being our fastest, but Harvin the best runner(great vision, follows blocks well). We use Fayson and Cooper at WR as well, and they're both bigger 4.3 guys with Fayson at 6'1 and Cooper at 6'3. However, both struggled to grasp the offense early on, and neither will play much, if at all, in the NC game.

In the end, I think OSU is the one with the speed advantage across the board. The Florida defense will almost certainly play a deep zone and try to prevent the big play. The good news for us is that they've faced some very fast and very big receivers over the season, with Tennessee(Swain, Meachem, etc.), Bama(DJ Hall, Keith Brown), LSU(Doucet, C. Davis, Bowe), and USCe(Rice). But they were helped greatly by poor QB play by the opponents, playing against Troy Smith will be a different story. The Gators definitely have their work cut out for them.

Lou holtz was the coach of Notre Dame in 95 and 96. he lost to us twice.
He is allowed to like who he wants. I like Lou, he is a great coach and a good man.

Who gives a shit if a bunch of media pundits and Florida fans think we are slow? Last time I checked we've beaten every team we've played this season, and that is what matters most. Let them call us slow, we'll see what happens on 1-8-07.
