Corso is a disgrace to the Italian nation. What a drunken fuckstick. Remember the Iowa game, when he proclaimed that the "Buckeyes" would win, yet put on that horrific Hawkeye headgear? He couldn't keep either of his "Eyes" straight that night. Dumbass.

Corso's pick is the kiss of death. I hope to God he picks Florida.

I was disturbed by Herbie's comments that kept being replayed on Sportscenter during the day today. Herbie of all people should know that "Florida speed" or "SEC speed" is a myth. Wasn't he on the sideline in Tempe when the Bucks beat Miami?

Herbie is regarded by many as one of the most "credible" analysts in college football. I don't mind if he wants to claim that the Gators or anybody else are faster or more athletic than the Buckeyes. It's just plain irresponsible though for someone of his "credibility" to claim that that speed advantage is a product of their location or conference affiliation.

I was listening to Herbie and Eddie George talking today on 1460, and its pretty clear to me that Herbie is having fun with the team speed thing. None of us are in his position, and quite frankly, he has a bit of a tight rope to walk. No doubt in my mind who Herbie thinks is going to win. He may not say it directly, but its clear.

Agreed. He has to say "nice things" about Florida because his job requires it. :)

We all realize that Herbie can't be an OSU homer. But that doesn't mean he has to say stupid things and gushing about UF like it has tons more team speed than OSU is just plain stupid.

When UM crushed Nebraska, it was because they couldn't handle the southern speed.

When we beat UM, it was because we pushed them around.

It's all about stereotypes. You could just as easily say that UM couldn't handle the speed of Will Smith and Kenny Peterson. But then again, we didn't have speed.

Herbie is showing himself to be yet another mediocre asanine commentator the last several days.

Tomorrow should be interesting. Though I work in Tallahassee, there are several Gator alums/fans at the office. All year they've been respectful, bordering on reverential if that's a word (is now). They have all said or agreed more than once that, "We want no part of the Buckeyes this year".

What should be interesting about tomorrow is to see if their tune changes. Frankly, I wouldn't blame them. They seem to have found an offense just in time, with Percy Harvin finally being healthy.

Which brings us back to that Florida Speed mantra. More to follow in 12 hours or so...

FWIW: All of the Gator fans around here have been very decent. They haven't mentioned the word "speed" a single time. They expect to get all they can handle.

Message-board-guy not withstanding, the Gators seem to be a decent bunch IMHO.

agreed. the media isn't doing a very good job of pushing this game. they seem to have fallen into the same rutt they normally do when discussing a big 10 vrs. sec showdown. but that isn't something to hold against florida or its fans. thus far the group that has found its way here seems to be a good natured knowledgeable group.

Just a little footnote here after having read the "Just a reminder" thread...my original idea was to bash the talking heads who bring up ridiculous cliche comments before big games. In no shape, way, or form was it meant to bash anything about Florida and their team; they do have speed which I pointed out originally is gonna give us fits early until we make some adjustments. But the heart of my thread was to point out that the Big Ten is not made up of slow footed corn fed hulks who cant run and The OSU usually has one or two Florida kids at the speed positions anyways  It's gonna be a heck of a game and let's bring it on :oh:

Anybody wanna make a guess on how many times we are gonna hear that the Gators are gonna win because we cannot handle their "Florida speed". I heard that ad nauseum back in 02 in regards to criami and it looks like we matched up with em pretty good  I do think at times their defensive speed is gonna give us fits, but at the same time I don't think they are ready to deal with our "Ohio speed"

Speed...crack...meth...there's no telling what those Gators are on or have.
But we have Ted Ginn, Jr. From his OSU bio page:

the national champion in the 110 high hurdles as a junior and

recorded the best time in the nation as a senior when he won

the state title for the second consecutive year ... has been

timed at 10.5 seconds in the 100 meter dash.
Speed?

Check!
