Going way back to the BN days, the old BN days and right up till now the only 2 groups that come to mind who were just a complete loss were Miami and Washington fans.

Both had such arrogance and were so firmly convinced their team speed and athleticisim were something our poor Buckeyes had never seen it got to be too much.

Worse for those wine and cheese Washington cocksuckers was the fact our team had just won the NC, returned damn near everyone and was playing at home at night. But we were in for it because they had some brokeback mountain cast member QB and a good WR :shake:

I'm sure there was a decent poster or two from each school but as a whole they stick out in my memory as the two worst groups we've ever had. Texas Tech and WSU stand out in memory as the best 2 groups but I'm sure thats debatable.

I heard Pace ran a 4.7 40. Anyone know if that's legit?

Not sure of the 4.7.... that sound sick for a man as big as him.. but.. maybe... he played basketball too, so I imagine getting up and down the court helped his quicks.

His pancake blocks earned enough attention to make Pace (6-6, 320) the Big Ten?s most valuable offensive player in 1996.

The 02 Buckeyes had more players drafted than the 02 Canes. That's not up for debate. Hence, more talent.

You argue that 13 was not an Offensive key for that team? Did your TV work in 02? I know that was before HD, but I assume you could still see the picture clear enough.

Why? That team was loaded with Draft picks, All-Americans, and all Big-10 players. Mike Jenkins, Santonio Holmes, Troy Smith, LeCharles Bentley, Stepanovich, Mangold, Hawk, Grant, Doss, Gamble, Will Smith, Clarett, Drew Carter, Rob Sims, Carpenter, Nickey, Fox, Nate Salley, Matt Wilhelm, and those are just the names of the top of my head.

OSU lost 9 draft picks and 5 first round picks off of last year's team. Including 3 underclassmen. Over the last 5 years NO TEAM has had as much talent as OSU. Not Miami, not USC, not FL. It all work sin cycles, and much of it is luck as far as what 18 yr old develops, but in this cycle OSU hit the jackpot. They've had the most talent in the nation. Period.

Off the top of my head, these players in your list had very little effect on the 2002 team. Difficult to include any of these guys in the discussion of talent versus talent in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl. Especially LeCharles Bentley.
Santonio Holmes - redshirted in 2002
Troy Smith- redshirted in 2002
LeCharles Bentley - in the NFL in 2002
Mangold - backup center played well in the NC title game.
Hawk - special teams and solid backup LB
Drew Carter - fourth or fifth WR that year in an offense that didn't go four or five wid very often.
Salley - backup safety, didn't play very much.

pace was 6 7 330ish the day he walked on to campus. the term pancake was invented as to give him a stat to push his heisman campaign. i dont know about his 4.7 speed. i do know it was not odd to see him running downfield past guys while he went and pancaked a second guy. he was unreal to say the least. stringer himself was something special, but hicks and pace were in thier own world...


edit since were on it greenies to the guy who names paces hs number... oh and thrown in the school (thats easy)
