Hell of a Game

First,

I would like to say that was one hell of a game by both teams. I have been an USC fan over 20 years and have been a season ticket holder. I have not sweated over a game like that since the 05 Texas NC game. I don't think either team played their A games tonight at all. The media had been saying OSU had no chance against USC. They were wrong. OSU has an amazing defense. Your Front 7 are very quick and strong. I don't see OSU losing another game this year. Play calling for both sides was moderate at best. I was very unimpressed with 3rd and long play calling for both teams. Even though USC came out with the win. OSU is gonna get plenty of respect for beating the trojans for the majority of the game. You guys have one hell of a team and if we play again it will certainly be a classic.

The Bucks might get to the Rose Bowl this year, but imo they won't be playing SC if they do. They're in a pass-happy conference, Mays' health is in question, and their pass defense generally looked suspect. It's a fast defense, just inexperienced. They'll probably get in a few shootouts, maybe win a couple and maybe lose a couple. Cal, ASU, of course UCLA... lie in wait. Good to see the apparent return of meanness and swagger on the Buckeyes' defense.

Wardo - Now that USC has beaten us make sure you guys go undefeated and demolish some SEC team. Oh and make sure you beat everyone by more than 3 points while your at it. Honestly USC is gonna be a beast of a team within the 3 year era of Barkley.

I love BP...Seems like the only board not in a total meltdown. Over on Scout it's a mess. I wish some in this fan base could not meltdown over every loss. It was a good game reguardless of play calling/Pryor's play.

If you wanna see a real meltdown go over to jjhuddle.com (it's an Ohio high school sports site. Then, check out the college football forum. There's a sticky at the top where all the meltdown threads have been merged. It's actually pretty damn funny to read through the terrible [censored] they have posted.

Not sure how this will work for non members, but I got a good laugh out of their cluelessness.

Couldn't be more proud of us tonight, the men played with real fire and passion, with zeal. WE HAD THIS GAME WON. Congrats to the squad, and head up. It burns like hell, but we earned some respect back.

Defensively, I though we did a tremendous job. In truth, we are simply not as deep as years past defensively, but schematically, it was very well done. My only criticism is the inability to place a parallel ath. on McKnight, but that will come.

Let me preface the next comment, by saying Jim Tressel is an excellent coach and a fine rep for our school. I would hope he will always be part of TOSU Football. But offensively, it's time for us to admit that Tress is out of his depth. Pound for pound, play for play, our offensive scheme and playcalling is an absolute nutroll and at this point, close to a disservice to our athletes. Examples:

we have no mid/intermediate pass plays we can execute with high percentages.
we have an odd tendency to stick with something until it appears to work well, then abandon it(saine)
we have the personnel, yet not the will, to stretch the field.
TP is TP, let's not make him a pocket guy.
lastly,we are extremely predictable.

I'm not saying chuck it and go to the spread, flexbone, flavor of the month AFCA offense. But for the love of Woody, we simply must have an offensive identity that we can hang our hat on and go from there. Watching Tress at this point, Woody help me, is kinda like watching Lloyd Carr.

I would love to go unbeaten. Our schedule this year is brutal. We have only 4 home games and we play CAL and ND back-to-back on the road. I would love to play Florida or LSU.

what? The completely useless pic when you can't see his knee at all? Yes, it was.

When you assume things... well you know the saying:

I'm not assuming anything I'm just saying if our defense did stop them they just earned even more respect when I thought it wasn't possible....

The most valiant effort by a defense I've ever seen.
I can honestly hold my head up and say that we gave it our all which is all you can ask for.

Go Bucks!

Between the Fiesta Bowl and this game, I think our slump of being mentally deficient in big matchups is over.

I don't like moral victories, and this school should never accept them. Winning is everything. Pryor's play was a little frustrating, but he's a young guy. He needs to mature to lead this team, and I think he will.

But what I want to say is that I saw an intensity, a passion, a fire, and a refusal to give up that I haven't seen in years. That's a very good sign. Against a team that almost everyone thought would steamroll us, we punched them in the throat defensively and did the exact same thing that helped us beat Miami in 2002-03.

This loss sucks. It really does. But I look for the silver lining, and this team has an intangible will to kick some ass that we haven't had since 2005. Perhaps 2003.
