Game Thread Southern Cal 18, at tOSU 15 (Sept 12th, 8 pm, ESPN)

Pete Carrol certainly rolls the dice when it comes to practices, but I think it prepares his teams for games just like this. I think some overlook the fact that USC goes 100% offense on defense more than any MAJOR Division 1 program.

Barkeley will be tested far more than a typical freshman due to the live reps he has seen in practice. It is what it is....

That isn't to say what tOSU does is wrong, or other programs should adopt Petey's philiosophy, but I think it has merit. It sucks RoJo is hurt, and they get banged up for doing it, but in the end, they seem to be more prepared and physically ready for every challenge.

More than anything, this is what seperates USC in my mind...

no, but griffen, tupou, casey, mays, pinkard, wright and thomas are a year older/better. last years strength was lb's (im sure you remember the ass whopping rey rey put on your boys!) and this years strength is overall quickness, the dline and the dbs. this years lbs are faster than last years though...and going against a qb who cant throw, we'll be just fine!!
If your defense comes in thinking that Pryor can't throw, then it is going to be a very long evening for your defense.

Hopefully i'll get an answer on the third try... What is different? Was it terrible before? Why is it such a big difference now?

I'm well aware of the importance of special teams. You just haven't given any rationale other than a blank statement and a new coach.

Around here we welcome dissenting opinions, but you have to back them up with something.

ok, sorry. many of the starters: mays, pinkard, galippo will play on special teams and, for a number of years, sp teams has been an after thought for PC. Fair catch, don't fumble and let us play offense...bates is the new guy from the nfl (raiders i think) and the focus will be on attacking.

does this pass as an acceptable answer?

...better than a statement without any substantial evidence to support it....so yes.

Terrelle led the big ten in pass efficiency last year(146.5 rating/1311 yrds/12 tds...in 8 starts).... and he has improved alot in the offseason. That Terrelle Pryor is a terrible passer.

oh yeah 60.6% completion rate.... as a freshman

can anyone offer any advice on tailgating? we like to come early and stay late. where should we try to target?

I would really advise against USC fans trying to tailgate with OSU fans. It will most certainly be as ugly as a typical Michigan tailgate, and I'm not sure it's worth the hassle unless you're dead set on doing it.

This ain't Southern Cal tailgating, that's for sure.

Advice? Save your trash talking for the internet unless you want to get into a fight.

I can't be the only one who noticed this.

so they did not use starters before? I thought I remembered reyrey and maybe cushing out there at times, but you clearly watch them more.

so they plan to go for more blocks?

Too bad, we just graduated our former rb punter, he went for a 50 yd td in week 1, and humiliated Jones scoreboard in week 2 of the preseason. He rushed for more yards than beanie in hs.
