USC fans on here telling me to stay classy after me saying that we need to hit Barkley and kill him (but not literally) lol. This is football, not ballet buddy.

Anyways, I think we should be able to really get after him, and the point is that if we rattle him in our house, our chances go way, way up.

I think we are going to smash USC this year, and news of Barkley starting didn't change that. I already thought that.

Don't anyone go crazy, it's just my opinion. :)

I'm sorry to see what is happening in this thread lately :bicker:

Anyway, I just got back from USC's scrimmage at the Coliseum today. Beyond the boiling temperature it was a really good time.

Barkley looked good. Threw one interception, which was a pass that got tipped way into the air by the receiver and then caught by the defense. It wasn't a bad throw by any means. Overall he threw really well, got a few touchdowns on top of it. They were piping in crowd noise to simulate.

Big loss for us as Ronald Johnson (RoJo) caught a fantastic Barkley pass and took it down to the three, but then got hit and word is that it's a cracked clavicle, putting him out for 6-8 weeks. Big shame as the guy is awesome.

Corp came in near the end and looked to be running pretty well, and did so on a number of plays.

Brice Butler seemed to be making a big statement to start at WR, came down with a few nice catches.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun, Barkley is looking solid so far, hope he can keep it up heading into the Horseshoe.
Confirmation on that...

USC WR Johnson breaks collarbone in scrimmage

LOS ANGELES?USC receiver Ronald Johnson will be out six to eight weeks after breaking his collarbone during the No. 4 Trojans' mock game.
Johnson was the Trojans' third-leading receiver last season with 33 catches for 570 yards and eight touchdowns. The junior was expected to start for USC this season alongside Damian Williams.
Johnson was hurt Saturday during the second series of the mock game at the Coliseum when he was tackled after catching an underthrown 34-yard pass from freshman quarterback Matt Barkley.
Coach Pete Carroll says the injury is "just a crusher." Williams, the Trojans' leading receiver last season, will take Johnson's spot on the offense, and junior David Ausberry will move into the starting lineup.

That's a huge loss right there. Rojo was the type of deep threat that could test the relatively green Buckeye corners.

Still need penetration on that USC offensive line, because some receiver (regardless of name) can get open if the QB has enough time.

For some reason, on USC's football site -- USCRipsIt.com -- all i seriously saw was this on their banner (when first looking):

"Us Crips"

But SC has "superior" depth relative to any college team in the history of college football. We will see about that.

except for when they lose to say Stanford

then the injury excuses start flying

but yea, super depth, their 3rd stringers could start for any other school

their fans crack me up, they have these "3rd stringers who can start for any D1 school" but yet use the injury excuse when they lose, talk about a contradicting argument

Injuries or no injuries, I have a good feeling about this game. I get a feeling that a lot of frustration will be unloaded that evening. I'll leave it at that.

That's the vibe I've been getting lately. Espicially with what seem to be some minor problems already for USC.

Because USC is starting a true freshman who has proven absolutely nothing so far on the college level. Sure he was highly touted out of high school, but I seem to remember another highly talented QB out of California who the media seemed to love : Jimmy Clausen. You can make an excuse an say that he started for ND, but just because a QB has talent around him doesnt necessarily mean he can make the right decisions to utilize that talent. So until Barkley steps out on the field and proves something in a game, OSU fans have the right to be confident.

Barkley has proven something to me on the field. He likes to force the ball in and threw 18 interceptions in his senior year of high school, according to the LA times:
USC doesn't plan to hold back on offense -- latimes.com

This should be an interesting matchup between "mistake free" and "wide open". It looks like Barkley will make the commentators salivate, except for "one unlucky mistake that cost them the game".

Kind of like last year's superbowl. People said Warner was the better QB except for just one mistake. May Tressel Ball reign supreme!!!! May the big 10 win only because of one "very unlucky mistake"!!

thats the biggest knock on Barkley

he has Brett Favre syndrome, doesnt know how to take a sack or throw it away, makes a bad decision instead

And if he was doing that as a senior in high school, what is he capable of doing in the shoe? I would even practice our d line against 6-8 guys to make it harder for them in practice to where sat night seems easier. Pressure could be the main key for OSU.
