ESPN to screen Ohio State vs. Southern Cal in 3-D
Posted: Monday, Aug. 24, 2009

ESPN says it will test its ability to televise football games in 3-D with a special screening of the game between No. 4 Southern California and No. 6 Ohio State at three theaters on Sept. 12.

Tickets will be given to fans listening to ESPN radio affiliates in Los Angeles, Dallas and Columbus, Ohio, this week. The Galen Center on the Southern Cal campus in Los Angeles will screen the game in 3-D, as will theaters in Columbus and Hurst, Texas ? the lone neutral site for gathering fan reaction. ESPN staff will also watch a screening in Hartford, Conn., near its Bristol headquarters.

The game, starting at 8 p.m. Eastern time, will also be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN HD.

Buckeye fans encouraged to wear scarlet to all 2009 football home games; "Paint the Town Scarlet" campaign to run during USC game week

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Scarlet is in for fall 2009 in Ohio. The Ohio State Department of Athletics has announced it will expand its "Scarlet Fever" promotion from its typical single-game focus to a season-long campaign in 2009.

Getting Scarlet Started
For the upcoming football season, Buckeye fans are encouraged to wear scarlet to all seven Ohio State home games in Ohio Stadium, beginning with the season-opener vs. Navy Sept. 5 (noon/ESPN). For the Navy game, a special scarlet and gray camouflage game T-shirt will be available at the Official Team Shop in the Schottenstein Center the week of the game.

Official 2009 football season T-shirts, also scarlet, are available for purchase now at the Team Shop.

Paint the Town Scarlet
Fans can get geared up for the Sept. 12 primetime matchup with USC (8 p.m./ESPN) by participating in the week-long lead up promotion "Paint the Town Scarlet." Fans have the opportunity to enter a contest for the best decorated homes or offices (exterior only with flags, lights, etc.) to be selected and displayed during the USC game on the Ohio Stadium south end zone video board. Photos can be submitted starting Sept. 7 at www.OhioStateBuckeyes.com/scarlet.

Also starting Sept. 7, fans can purchase a special Ohio State-USC commemorative game day T-shirt from the Official Team Shop.

Wear scarlet? Who in the hell has to be told?!

If the school really wants to get behind this they'd stop selling yellow (YELLOW?!) ponchos at the games. I'd rather get soaked if it rains than cover up my school colors with one of those abominations.

Or use those TSUN colored security outfits at the gate, especially the rotunda. Use orange, your old school colors, to stand out.

At least 1/3 of the stadium is usually in white or random colors. I've never understood why Scarlet wasn't more dominant, but it is a lot different on orchestrated 'color out' games.

Wanted to know a couple of things from USC's practice today. Did Corp practice for the whole practice? Who looked better if so? What shape is the Offensive line in as far as injuries and "gelling"?

Corp is back, fully participating. Not quite 100% yet but will be SJSU. Looks extremely likely that he will be the starter this season. Corp looked better today in what he did.

Offensive Line is pretty much healthy. Most of the experienced OL like Byers and Brown have been given rest days(not today) lately. O'Dowd said that he will be ready to go by the end of the week, he is no longer in a brace and just needs a little bit of rest. Other than that USC still has a question mark of who exactly will be the starting RG, either Parsons, Howell or Lewis will fill that spot as the starter and they are all playing at a very high level right now so observers are mixed on who will get the nod.

Gelling is no concern at all, Unless we lose three starters we have enough depth to know that the replacements have been in before and no real drop off is expected.

Also two walk on were rewarded scholarships today. Jordan Congdon who won the starting kicker spot, Congdon was previously the starter at Nebraska in his freshman and sophomore years but decided to move back to LA and walked on at USC. His leg isn't the strongest but USC rarely goes for FG's from 45+ he is the very accurate which is all we need. The other was walk on Robert Erickson a junior who is a safety and is expected to have a role on all special team units.

Almost entirely unrelated but it is great to have other fans posting on BP...This is just another reason this place is so great...thanks again visitors

Wear scarlet? Who in the hell has to be told?!

Hordes who show up in white, gray, or black OSU shirts.

The cute little coeds who show up in pink OSU shirts.

Students in white tee shirts whose need to display their clever message overrides their team spirit.

The first timers and various other brain dead who show up in green, blue, orange, stripes, plaid or any other color/combination and to whom it never occurs that they are actually a participant and not just a spectator.

10% of the stadium who show up in the proper attire, but carry with them a yellow, blue, or orange poncho just in case it rains.

Fucking Trojans.

And guys like me who show up in the same color they have been wearing since their last "in attendance" win streak started and the color they will continue to wear until it ends.

Which fortunately in my case happens to be scarlet.
