I tend to think the offense lost it's identity when Wells got hurt and never recovered till TP and Wells where on the field together. The SC fans don't get that the offense was built around Beanie last year. No Beanie, no offense. The defense played the best it could without support of the offense in the SC game.
This year's offense is TP centric. A whole different style and attitude. These things do matter in college football. Not saying we'll win, but the result could be very different.

O'Dowd will not need surgery and might be back in time to play in the 'Shoe.

ESPN

The injury news is fairly good out of USC.

Center Kristofer O'Dowd will not need surgery on his dislocated kneecap, the Orange County Register reported. Because the MRI revealed a clean dislocation, he could be back within three weeks.

The timetable is important because the Trojans visit Ohio State on Sept. 12, meaning O'Dowd could be ready to go with time to spare. O'Dowd missed four games when he hurt his knee in a similar way before, but this time it appears his injury more resembles the dislocation quarterback Mark Sanchez suffered, which didn't stop him from playing in the opener at Virginia.

Meanwhile, quarterback Aaron Corp's fractured fibula is healing normally and he could renew his competition with Matt Barkley next week.

Cont'd ...

I made a post in this thread a-long time ago. But I am pysched for this game, I think this game is my most anticipated football game of the year. NFL or NCAA. I'm truly sick of all the crap that's been talked about the Buckeyes lately it's time we take some respect back and I think our boys know that. This team will be ready to play in the 'shoe. It's about time we start avenging some of those painful losses. This will be a very important game for the Buckeyes season and possibly future seasons.

I think that the problem that many have with the offense (myself included) is that with the talent here the performance of the O shouldn't hinge on one player. In my opinion it shouldn't be "no Beanie no offense." There were 18 starters (17 because Beanie was hurt) back on that team last year and USC made them look like a middle school team. USC might be playing their 3rd string QB at Ohio State and you can guarantee they will come out firing.

The problem wasn't 'no Beanie', it was a completely inability to do all of the following: pick up the blitz, pass protect, make throws under pressure, defend the run, and not get utterly fooled by play action. Last year we got totally dominated by USC's OL and DL. If we don't do a hell of a lot better this year, I expect pretty much the same result.

I think the main thing that tOSU needs to do is to keep the chain moving with Terrelle Pryor. He will have the ability to run after not finding anyone after the reads. That will help him to keep the ball moving.

I hope Coach Tressel will actually bring something that USC hasn't seen. That will be quite helpful. USC never really got caught off guard with anything that tOSU threw at them last year.

All I can say is that let's hope for a much better result this time around.
